WORK EXPERIENCE:
1978 to 10/11 Trane Company
10/98 to 10/11 Controller – Vidalia Georgia Operations
Key position that supports plant management on budget and financial matters by leading the planning, direction, and evaluating of general accounting, budget and financial activities for a $250 million dollar a year air handler production facility.
Developed and prepared weekly and monthly financial and ad hoc operational packages for management and conducted monthly budget and forecast variance analysis with Vidalia leadership team.
Implemented zero based budgeting for facility that included overall productivity improvements year over year of greater than 6% of prior year spending.
Partnered with materials management to improve inventory turns and dollars by more than $10M over the last 3 years by increasing awareness of inventory balances through implementation of a warehouse management system.
Increased overall accuracy of accounts payables for direct material by implementing 100% pay from receipt for the operation.
Improved staff development through cross training and increased job responsibilities to meet the needs of the operation. This lead to an entrepreneurial ownership by staff which increased job moral and satisfaction.
Submittal and approval of all capital expenditures and appropriation requests for the facility which included:
$35M dollar investment for new product line in the facility.
Three separate expansions in the facility from 100K square feet to today’s 362K square feet. These expansions led to an increase of employment in the facility from 250 employees to a peak of 1000.
Negotiated with the local development authority for the lease of a spec building for $1 over a ten year period that brought a new product line to the facility and added over 100 jobs.
Lead for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for the facility in which we were found to have no major audit deficiencies for the last 5 years.
Lead auditor for multi-site team to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance within other Trane facilities.
Lead in implementation of full manufacturing cost system during 2010.
7/95-9/98 Inventory Analyst – Tyler, Texas Operations
Responsible for all raw and in process inventory for the Tyler facility to ensure inventory accuracy. Overall inventory accuracy was within 99.99% of inventory balance.
Improved accuracy of full-overhead accounting in the facility by changing from manual calculation to excel version. This allowed for all site operations to be accurately forecast.
Improved overall accuracy of the property tax rendition to the Smith County Tax Assessor by changing from manual calculation to excel version to ensure that all assets were properly classified and depreciation was correctly captured.
9/91-7/95 Cost Analyst – Tyler, Texas Operations
Implemented overall accounting functionality for Variable Cost when compressor business was part of joint venture between Trane and Lennox.
1978-9/91: Accounts Payable Liaison – Trane Unitary Products Group
Resolved issues with supplier and intra-company personnel regarding the payment of invoices including correct pricing and 3 way match of invoice to receiving information.
