Analyst – 787 Goldcare Integration Test Team
JOB DUTIES: are twofold –
1. As an Analyst, analyze functional requirements and design, define, develop and execute test cases for GoldCare. Contributing to the test plan, developing test cases based on software specifications and SME input, executing and reporting of test cases results. Create and execute queries using TOAD – to retrieve results from backend Oracle database as part of test validation.
Integration testing utilizing a short iteration delivery cycle from multiple integration application sources. Communicate state of the application to the project stakeholders as required. Communicate anticipated or actualized risks as well as gaps in functionality. This is based on the execution of simple, moderate, and complex test scenarios. Work in close collaboration with the project managers, developers, suppliers, and business users to define critical areas for testing. Ensure quality and reliability of back-end and front-end applications, for airborne and ground-based airline systems. Help application owners understand the testing process and the quality state of their applications and environment. Work with cross-functional teams.
Testing includes – smoke, unit, functional, regression and release testing/pre-production testing.
2. As a backup for the Test Lead – preparing daily status reports, holding defect triage sessions and communicating status to PM, writing release notes after test release.
Responsibilities include:
• Understand the various enabler applications in play and the function of each.
- Enabler applications include Maintenance engineering management, Toolbox, Electronic log book, Airplane health management, Airline operations control, Situational awareness, Integrated materials management.
• Review the P490s / test plan documents and ensure they are accurate and have in-depth coverage for every CR targeted for the current release prior to signing off on the document.
• Write P750s / test scenarios for every transaction that occurs between enablers.
• Translate the P490s to testcases, which are maintained in HP Quality Center.
• Ensuring 787 data is consistent among different enablers prior to test, by performing DIS [Data initialization services].
• Conduct IUT, IFT and IRT test cycles prior to handoff to Pilot team / release to production.
- This includes role-based testing [Chief Engineer, Stock clerk, Line planner, Materials Coordinator, AOC engineer, MRO engineer, Planner, Superuser, etc..] in addition to functional testing of the applications.
- Use QTP to record and play back scenarios
• Identify, record and track defects found during test in Mercury QC.
- As part of the defect identification process, we are required to read the XML messages that are passed back and forth between enablers.
- Root cause analysis of the defects.
- Execute scenarios in PILOT environment as part of troubleshooting defects – to identify change in functionality between releases.
• Troubleshoot when messages do not reach the intended enabler application
- This can be because the listener in the broker application goes down and needs to be restarted and message reforwarded to the queue.
- This can be because of bad/incorrect message format.
- Check configuration file properties of the tool.
• Track CRs (Change Requests) in CASCQ, a change management system – which is a customised version of Rational Clearquest.
• Run performance metrics reports.
• Write up and execute queries against PM database [Oracle] in order to retrieve test data and also verify the outcome of certain test scenarios.

Lead Analyst - Test
Responsibilities include:
1. Document the test plan, design test scenarios and test sets, as well as execute them – Functional, Integration & Regression tests.
• Work with the Business Analyst to review business requirements, analyze the High Level Design Documents (BRD, FSD) provided by the business and FA to understand the business/system requirements.
• - This included in-depth understanding of the call flow, and if all the specifications were mapped to the call flow/database tables, as part of requirements.
• Understand the underlying Oracle database table design and relationships for creating simple SQL statements in order to add/modify test data prior to testing cycle.
• Translate the requirements and flow diagrams into test plan and test scenarios
• Further break up the test scenarios into test cases [Rational ClearCase was used to write manual test cases]. This includes querying the database for values and creating views - using TOAD and SQL statements that would later be used in the testcases.
• Present the test scenarios and testcases written to the FA, Business Analyst and Project manager in order to get their approval to sign-off on the modules.
• Data validation [querying the billing system database for relevant data using SQL]
• Test set execution as part of functional and system testing cycles and provide production support during the pre-prod testing phase. This includes analyzing the call record logs using the terminal emulator that supports the Rlogin.
• Editing the SOAP XML for values of tags which is used as an input to the Java application into the IVR system
• Create test accounts using Telegence and CARE UI, for use in testing.

Responsibilities include:
• Build install and configuration – Partition the hard drive on the machines – to safe OS and Test OS, and Install the most recent build of Vista OS on the Test drive and run updates, install IE7 on the OS. Sometimes had to VPC/Remotely connect to the lab machines which would already have the OS builds installed.
• Run BVT [Build Verification Tests] - Testing Internet Explorer 7.0 on the new Vista OS (32 and 64-bit machines, including Itanium) and backward compatibility on XP Pro, Windows Server 2003 and other older OSs.
Functionality testing covered the following areas :
AppCompat – IE7 compatibility with applications like Word, InfoPath, Visio, QuickBooks Pro, Messenger service etc.
ExtCompat – Compatibility with extensions to IE like toolbars, menus and other add-ons
SiteCompat – IE7 compatibility with different websites.
• Bug filing and investigations – Log defects using Product Studio 6.0. Get the stack trace and dump file during IE crashes.

developed in Forms - 3.0 on Unix and then migrated onto Forms - 6.0 with enhanced functionality on Windows - NT 4.0.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The project involved reverse engineering using Designer/2000 and Developer/2000, viz. re-generating modules, identifying existing components and developing reusable components – add new PL/SQL code in forms where required. Create stored procedures to be referenced by the PL/SQL code.
- The testing effort involved using creativity to design test sets, and execute test sets during unit testing of modules, functional, regression, performance and acceptance testing.
- Perform in-depth functional testing to validate software conformance to specifications.

3. Web development and testing: The project is close to an e-shopping software (without financial data handled), which was developed on the same lines as the previous project CRONER. The registered customers were displayed categories of
products to choose from, and the items in each category. The customer would then be given a choice of adding his selection to the shopping cart or directly place an order.
