Community Involvement

Being a tutor for School on Wheels has been the most rewarding experience. For at least one hour a week, not only do I tutor and assist children in their reading and schoolwork, but I also help connect parents to one of our two main offices where they receive help in filling out the necessary paperwork for school. I also assist parents in gathering records such as birth certificates, immunization records and transfer papers from previous schools. Education is the key to our country's future. Education is basic for any child to have hope and a chance for success. The homeless child is no exception. I give my knowledge and time to support the educational needs of homeless children who struggle daily in accomplishing their number one job as a child: learning.
