Clinical Activities

Under the direction of the pathologist duties include: performance of gross examination, description, photography, and radiography of anatomic pathology specimens; performance of postmortem examination including prosection, dissection, medical record evaluation, and dictation of data as well as preparation of clinical history, preliminary and final autopsy diagnosis summarization; supervision of pathology residents and medical students in surgical and autopsy dissection.

Information Systems Administrator

Build Powerpath Laboratory Information System for all aspects of SLUCare Independent Laboratories. This includes building user dictionaries, patient reports, laboratory procedures, billing reports, regulatory reports, customer reports, client interfaces, etc.

Review work flow processes to allow maximum utilization of system in both clinical and non clinical areas. This includes training end users, evaluating hardware and software needs, quality assurance, troubleshooting user issues, design policies and procedures for CAP and JCAHO compliance and database management.

Administrative Activities

Revise Surgical Pathology department procedure manual, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2010; set up Anatomic Pathology policies and procedures for outreach laboratory business-2007; designed and implemented departmental orientation for residents and post-sophomore fellows; transitioned department from film to digital imaging for gross photography; maintain digital imaging database; department liaison for OR staff, Radiology staff and outreach clients.

Research Activities

Assist faculty with ongoing research activities. Areas of participation include: dissection, radiography, photography, performance of computer searches and evaluation of searches for acceptance.

Teaching Activities

Instruction of pathology residents, post-sophomore fellows and medical students in the technique of autopsy and surgical dissection including gross examination, description, photography, radiography, and tissue collection. Maintain wet tissue teaching collection.

1999-2001 Radiologic Technologist

Duties

Performance of high quality radiographs for diagnosis of disease processes in the areas of General Diagnostic, (including trauma and intra-operative procedures), Pediatrics, and Computed Tomography. Orient and train new employees, students and residents.

1990 – 1999 Manager of Diagnostic Imaging

Duties

Manage, organize, staff and supervise medical imaging departments of General Diagnostic, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Sonography, and Mammography in multiple facilities in St Louis and vicinity. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining licenses in the following areas: FDA license in Mammography; Mammography provider license by the American College of Radiology; Federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission license in Nuclear Medicine; Missouri State License for diagnostic imaging; Joint Commission Accreditation of Hospitals. Responsiblities also included budgeting, equipment purchasing, quality assurance as well as performance of diagnostic imaging procedures.
