Internet Commerce Group is a web hosting company for many different sites including real estate, retirement communities, mature audiences, sports entertainment and product development. This organization has in been in operation for 7 years and consists of 25 different companies and structures.
Controller – 03/05 to Present
In my position as controller of Internet commerce Group I create and oversee the budgets, management and all financial reports including financial statements for each individual company and I prepare consolidated reports for all entities to a sole owner. I provide support and input on existing company focus and on new ventures financially and in a supporting management role. I review payroll, all payable and receivables as well as meet with out lawyer and outside accountants for both the individual companies and the consolidated holdings. Zia manages retail music stores with 7 locations, 145 employees and annual sales in excess of $17 million. Impact is wholesale distributor with 45 employees and annual sales throughout the United States of $14 million. Companies acquired by outside investors in 2000. Provide absentee owners with all corporate financial information, have full P&L accountability and financial authority.
Chief Financial Officer - 12/98 to 8/2003
$ Researched and purchased new accounting software that provided up-to-date financial information; integrated POS system to warehouse and purchasing departments through bridge application. Greatly reduced costs and streamlined inventory process into real time information. Eliminated duplication of costs and manpower.
$ Purchased 25 portable hand-held computer devices that enabled monthly inventory counts. Eliminated cost of outside inventory service, provided timely and more accurate inventory count. Covered cost of equipment acquisition after one month’s application.
$ As acting CEO in 1999, used sound cash management practices to increase profits by 25% over previous 9 months.
$ After original owner’s death in 1998, put company back into solid financial shape. Closed 2 unprofitable stores, restructured district, developed controls, prepared budgets that made financial sense, and restored stability to the company.
$ Developed inventory control system, allocated inventory purchases by stores, discounted products until sold instead of returning to inventory, and returned products to suppliers. Result: Reduced inventory, increased cash flow, and regained credibility with suppliers and customers.
