Qualifications:

• Assists the Pharmacist in filling prescriptions items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy.

• Type prescription information to produce labels. Labels products appropriately, including cautionary

or auxiliary labels.

• Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves, and removes out-of-date

items from the inventory.

• Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to customer or hospital patient, computes

charges, and enters data in computer.

• Provides as needed telephone and administration support for the department.

• Process validation in aseptic compounding; Loading and filling Pyxis and Med-Dispense.

• Knowledgeable of computer operations, medications brand and generic names, loss prevention

techniques.

• Prepare medications and supplies for dispensing, including: pre-packing bulk medications,

compounding, chemotherapeutic agents, compounding large-volume intravenous mixtures, intravenous

piggybacks, oral solutions.

• Communicates with all customers in a pleasant and professional manner, Processes returned

medications from the facility for credit or destruction.

• Communicate with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims.

• Perform record keeping function in association with the dispensing of prescription claims.

• Maintain workload records and collect quality assurance data.

• Transport medications, drug-delivery devices and other pharmacy equipment from the pharmacy to

nursing units, cart-fill.

• Authorize medications for patients who have Medicare Part D
