NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS / ACHIEVEMENTS

• Process Engineering - Created and supported inexpensive custom Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and test defect data collection systems when in-house and outside vendor solutions were not available/affordable. In addition to the system software created and maintained system process instructions and developed software to generate custom circuit pack faceplate labels for customers. Lead factory expert for defect data collection covering most factory floor operations (assembly test inspection packing).

• Test Engineering - Developed a touchscreen based automated test software architecture for system level testing of multiple optical networking products. Developed test software and custom applications software (product testing product software emulation/interface defect analysis/reporting) and provided production and process work documents and technical support to multiple test and process engineering departments (systems test functional test R&D).

• Lean Engineering - Generated significant cost reduction through the automation of systems and environmental stress tests. This included increasing capital equipment utilization and reducing cycle times which also reduced labor and operational costs. For the most recent product assignment developed data collection and report generation software for environmental stress test which in conjunction with automation development resulted in a 50-70% reduction in overall test time for all product as well as a 20% test sampling only requirement for multiple circuit pack codes.

• Outsourcing Engineering - Provided outsourcing coordination engineered test facility modifications developed test software upgrades provided on-site test facility and network installation assistance and provided on-site test and process training and ongoing remote support to multiple EMS and company factories in Texas Malaysia and Italy. This work contributed significantly to meeting all transfer schedules with a minimal disruption of customer production requirements.

• Training Designed and taught several MES and defect data collection classes for production engineering and management personnel both domestic and global. This training resulted in improved inventory accuracy improved quality of the product analysis and repair operations and resulted in a significant improvement to the customer return/repair database used by the quality (QA) customer service and repair services organizations.

TELMAR NETWORK TECHNOLOGY (Plano TX)

Process/Test Engineering Repair/Test Process Consultant (Part Time) 2010-Current

• Evaluated documented and compared the repair/test processes of Telmar (Plano TX) and an international service repair company (Austin TX) involving the test/repair of an optical networking product for a common customer

• Qualified the customer plan to transfer repair services to Telmar based on process observations and the data analysis of test process failures component removals and customer returns

• Made recommendations regarding hardware (test and product facilities) and test software to improve the effectiveness and test coverage of Telmar s repair/test process

• Scheduled for travel to Austin TX in mid-October 2010 to coordinate and execute the breakdown and shipping of capital test facilities to Telmar-Plano. Then traveling to Telmar-Plano to coordinate and execute the installation and prove-in of those facilities.

ALCATEL-LUCENT (ALU) (North Andover MA)

Test Engineering Systems / Environmental Stress Testing 1991-2009

• Principal test engineer for environmental stress testing of a major optical networking product.

• Designed developed implemented and supported (multiple engineering groups) functional systems and environmental stress test software for 3 major optical networking products. This included a custom touchscreen-based test software architecture product interface/emulation test instrument control and automation operator interface and defect data and test result collection and analysis.

Process/Test Engineering Defect Data / Product Outsourcing 2003 2009

• Lead factory engineer for defect data collection (assembly test inspection quality operations). Designed and taught defect classes for operator engineering and management personnel.

• Developed the test capacity formula to be used by all ALU European factories as a member of a test capacity planning team (US Germany Italy).

• Played a major role in the outsourcing of systems level test facilities from the closing Merrimack Valley (ALU) factory to the ALU factory in Trieste Italy. Performed on-site test facility and network installation assistance modified test software to adapt to differences in the new test environment and provided training and technical support. Provided 24/7 remote support.

• Prior to the outsourcing incorporated multiple functional environmental stress test operations into existing systems level environmental stress test facilities which reduced by 75% the number testsets that had to be shipped to Trieste as well as reducing on-site operational and maintenance costs.

IT / Process Engineering 1993 2003

• Key member of the evaluation team that selected a new vendor Manufacturing Execution System (MES). Provided training and support to factory personnel (local and Ireland) for both new and existing systems.

• Based on data requirements of a new project and the lack of an acceptable vendor solution worked with IT engineering to design and develop a custom in-house MES that tracked 6 major optical networking products. Coordinated the inventory tracking and process control work module and designed and developed the user interface.

• Designed developed implemented trained and supported a custom MES system for 3 major optical networking products. Intended as a 6-9 month temporary solution the system was used in full production for 6 years. In response to a critical customer requirement designed developed implemented trained and supported a touchscreen based defect/repair data collection system for functional environmental stress and systems test for the same optical networking products.
