Great Western Steel - Machine/ Bandsaw Operator 2005 - 2009
• Operated forklift, and overhead crane. Moved steel coils ranging from 4,900 lbs to 53,000 lbs, from storage area to flat bed trucks for customers. Inventory of Imported and Exported materials.
• Read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of coils.
• Ride on girders or other structural-steel members to position them, or use rope to guide them into position.
• Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting as needed.
• Catch hot rivets in buckets, and insert rivets in holes, using tongs.
• Dismantle structures and equipment.
• Forged metal parts such as steel frames, columns, beams, and girders, according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
• Hold rivets while riveters use air-hammers to form heads on rivets.
• Insert sealing strips, wiring, insulating material, ladders, flanges, gauges, and valves, depending on types of structures being assembled.
