• Have responsibility of the other Technical Advisors, Commissioning Managers, Site Supervisors and QA/QC engineer who report to me from their respective sites in the USA & overseas.

• Key duties also include the responsibility for controlling back charges, reducing & negotiating extra work costs with our clients and ensuring this work is carried out within budget, to specification, safely and on schedule.

• Respond in writing to all RFI’s, NCR’s and site related commercial claims letters from both our clients and erectors.

• Carry out and support erection and commissioning presentations to new clients and erectors to assist our sales staff.

• Write and implement Inspection Check Lists that are used to carry QA/QC inspections and ensure vendor surveillance before SPX ships materials to the jobsites.

• Carry out vendor and shop inspections to verify the capabilities of new vendors, and perform QA/QC inspections at current vendors / sub suppliers shops and facilities throughout USA, China, Vietnam and Turkey.

• Conduct construction kick off meetings for clients & erection companies.

• Review engineering documents & drawings before being issued to sub-contractors & clients.

2/06 to 8/06 – Shaw/Stone & Webster: Maalaea Power Plant, Maui, HI, USA

Site Superintendent / TA on the construction, pneumatic testing of pipe work and the cold and hot commissioning of a 12 fan Air Cooled Condenser. This involved the planning and erection of the unit and supervising a sub-contractor who employed over 50 men.

11/04 to 1/06 – Shaw / Stone and Webster: Astoria Energy Project 500MW, New York, USA

Site Manager on the construction, pneumatic testing of pipe work and the cold & hot commissioning of a 24 fan Air Cooled Condenser and 12 cell fin fan cooler structure. This involved the planning and erection of the units in Norfolk VA, shipping them by barge to NY then erecting the modules on pre-erected under structure with union labor in NY. I was also involved in supervising a sub-contractor who employed over 65 men in Norfolk, VA and 75 men in New York.

 Nov 00 to Nov 03 – Hamon Thermal Europe, Brussels, Belgium - Construction Supervisor / Site Manager

9/03 to 10/04 – General Electric: Poletti 500MW, New York, USA

Technical Authority / Site Supervisor on the construction, pneumatic testing of pipe work and the cold and hot commissioning of a 32 fan Air Cooled Condenser. This involved the planning and erection of the unit and supervising a sub-contractor on behalf of our client who employed over 100 men.

6/03 to 8/03 – Alarko: Kirklareli 75MW, Kirklareli, Turkey

Construction manager on the construction and pneumatic testing of a 5 fan Air Cooled Condenser. This involved the planning and erection of the unit, supervising and instructing the erection contractor who employed 50 men and ensured that the project was completed to the contract date.

6/02 to 5/03 – TransAlta: Chihuahua III, Juarez, Mexico

Technical Authority / Site Supervisor on the construction, pneumatic testing of pipe work and the cold and hot commissioning of a 20 fan Air Cooled Condenser in Juarez, Mexico. This involved the planning and erection of the unit and supervising a sub-contractor who employed over 100 men and ensuring that the job was completed on time to a contract date.

12/01 to 6/02 – Washington Group International: Mystic 8 and 9, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Technical Authority on 2 separate 36 fan Air Cooled Condensers, and 2 separate 20 cell fin fan coolers. This involved the steel work and ducting pre-assembly and construction, pipe work systems including air removal, condensate drain and wash water lines.

7/01 to 11/01 – Bechtel Overseas Corporation: Hsin Tao Power Project, Hsinchu County, Taiwan

Technical authority on a 30 fan Air Cooled Condenser. This involved steel work Construction, including air removal and condensate pipe work, pneumatic testing of ducting and associated pipe work and cold commissioning of instruments and plant.

3/01 to 6/01 – ABB-Alstom Power: Michelin CHP, Stoke On Trent, UK

Site manager, which included control over subcontractors and suppliers in the construction, pneumatic testing of ducting and pipe work, cold commissioning of instruments and plant of a 3 fan Air Cooled Condenser, also including air removal and condensate removal pipe work.

11/00 to 2/01 – Bechtel Construction: Sutter Power Project, Yuba City, California, USA

Provided technical assistance and authority on the construction of a 30 fan Air Cooled Condenser. This involved advising the client on construction and lifting procedures, welding procedures and inspections.

 8/96 to 11/00 – McDonald Engineering Limited, Derby, England – Foreman, Rigger /Erector

• Worked throughout the UK and Europe on various construction sites as charge hand and as a general foreman.

• Responsible for the safe construction and operation of various plants, which are listed below and have been responsible for up to 20 men, reporting directly to site management.

• Responsible for all the day-to-day planning of construction and crane activities from programmers of work.

• Responsible for the safe operation of a permit to work system (LOTO) on live plants.

• 9/99 to 10/00 – Hamon DCS: Damhead Creek Power Station, Kent, England

Construction of a 36 Fan Air Cooled Condenser complete with all steam ducting, condensate removal, air removal and steam diffuser piping. Construction of one 10m x 15m high Raw Water Storage Tank and one 15m x 10m high Demineralised Water Storage Tank complete with all surface treatment piping.

• 5/99 to 9/99 – Severn Trent Water: England-Various Sites throughout the UK

Construction of gasholders and installation of pumps of varying sizes on water treatment / sewage plants.

• 2/99 to 5/99 – Hamon Custodis: Peterhead Power Station, Scotland

Construction of a triple flue 6m diameter x 90m high stack, complete with insulation and cladding.

• 1/98 to 2/99 – Hamon DCS: Sutton Bridge Power Station, Norfolk, England

Construction of a 35 Fan Air Cooled Condenser complete with all steam ducting, condensate removal and air removal pipe work. Construction of a 16 cell Fin Fan Cooler.

• 9/97 to 1/98 – Valeo: Valeo Heat treatment Plant, Swansea, Wales

Worked on the installation, alignment and pre-commissioning of a muffler furnace and associated ductwork.

• 4/97 to 12/97 – GEA PCS: Barry Power Station, South Wales

Construction of 12 Fan Air Cooled Condenser complete with all steam ducting, and construction of 6m diameter x 60m high single flue stack in carbon steel.

• 8/96 to 4/97 – Aarhus Oliefabrik: Aarhus Oliefabrik Oil Refinery, Denmark

Construction, finish painting, insulation and cladding of 58 storage tanks varying in size from 3m diameter x 6m high to 12m diameter x 20m high, in carbon steel, stainless steel and duplex.

 9/86 to 12/96 – Royal Ordnance Nottingham, England, UK - Toolmaker

I served a 4 year apprenticeship to become a Toolmaker. We produced large and small armaments for the British and American armed forces to high degrees of accuracy. This also gave me a firm understanding and grounding of many basic general engineering good practices, including QA/QC, reading engineering drawings, safe methods of heavy rigging and slinging, general safety, basic design of jigs and fixtures to assist the factory work, etc.

The work involved all aspects machine work such as lathes, milling and boring machines, grinding machines and fitting. During this period I worked on shift work and was seconded to night shift for approximately 1 year.

After the completion of the apprenticeship, and as well as the day to day work as a toolmaker, I was also involved in the training of new apprentices that entered the tool room department.

1992-1993 - Attended various courses and have held certificates in: Telescopic fork lift operation, First Aid, Mechanical elevated working platforms (operation and tutorage) slinger/banks man, Hilti gun operation, Abrasive wheels operation and maintenance, Aluminum tower scaffold erection, confined space training, site rescue squad, safety awareness and Permit to work / lock out tag out (LOTO) courses which include acceptance and issuing of permits.

1989-1991 - Attended Broxtowe College, Nottingham, UK on a day release basis attaining a City and Guilds in C.N.C programming and C.N.C setting/operating.

1986-1989 - Attended Peoples College Nottingham, UK on a day release basis throughout my apprenticeship period attaining an ONC (ordinary National Certificate) in mechanical engineering.

1981-1986 - Attended Western Mere School Breaston, Derbyshire, UK where I attained 5 ‘O’ Levels in Math, English, English Literature, Geography and Biology.
