Oracle Database Administrator Feb. 2008 - Pres
I’m part of a team responsible of the billing system project. I installed, designed, created, and configured Oracle 10.2.3 databases on Solaris 9 now in production. I designed the physical and logical layout of the database using ErWin. I optimized and tuned the system using various custom scripts and tools including GRID Control, AWR, DBMS_STATS, TkPROF, 10046 Event Trace and EXPLAIN PLAN. I was responsible of following:
• Wrote shell scripts for daily, weekly and monthly database monitoring.
• Wrote PL/SQL procedures and triggers to audit databases and maintain data integrity
• Tuned SQL and PL/SQL statements to maximize server response time and network bandwidth utilization. Conducted weekly load of external data using Oracle SQL* Loader.
• Performed cold and hot database backup and recovery operations using RMAN and NETBACKUP

Oracle Database Administrator 2006 - 2008
In this position, I was part of the Data Warehouse team responsible of a 10 TB two nodes oracle 9.2.5 RAC analytical database, 3TB two nodes oracle 9.2.5 RAC operational production database and multiple RAC development and test databases all running on AIX OS. In this task, I used various tools such OEM, Explain Plan, TKPROF, Toad, and custom shell scripts for the daily monitoring and performance tuning of these instances. I shared the weekly based on-call rotation, to this effect I was responsible for all duties related to the general maintenance of the database including troubleshooting, monitoring, online backup and recovery. I also provided technical support to the ETL developer’s team for optimal Load response time. Other duties included:
Project Experience: As a Programmer/Analyst I was involved in the following:
• Assisted in migration effort of the production Oracle 9.2.5 RAC database from RS 6000(7038-6M2) servers to RS 6000(P-690) servers
• Monitored and managed database space utilization and growth. Allocated and planned disk storage, modified database structure upon developers’ request.
• Led several tuning efforts using Statspack, SQL tuning, and the wait events interface that resulted in significant improvements in response time for application, ad-hoc queries and data migration modules. Implemented tables and indexes partitioning
• Installed and configured oracle10g DATAGUARD on Sun Solaris 2.8 OS consisting of a production database with two standby databases
• Implemented physical tapes RMAN backups and restores procedures trough NETBACKUP and TSM media management layer

Oracle database Administrator 2004 – 2005
I was responsible for upgrading Oracle 8.0.5 to Oracle 8.1.5 on a SunOs/ Sparc platform. Further responsibilities included creation of database objects such as tablespaces, tables, indexes and views. I enrolled users and managed the security activity into the database by administrating roles and privileges. Furthermore, I was responsible for tuning the instance in order to enhance the performance of the system. I analyzed trace and log files information to determine and resolve problem areas using UTLEBSTAT, UTLESTAT, TKPROF and other tuning tools.
