Northwest Airlines
Romulus, MI
07/2007-01/2008 Flight Attendant
Responsibilities included but were not limited to: supervising the safety and personal comfort of airline passengers. While some duties vary by type of aircraft, many procedures are regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); it was my responsibility to insure that regulations were being followed at all times during each flight. Before flights, I along with other FA crewmembers were briefed by the captain on emergency evacuation procedures, crew coordination activities, flying time, and weather. I was responsible for checking the passenger safety equipment and making sure the cabins were stocked with adequate supplies.
I greeted passengers as they boarded, checked their tickets, directed them to their seats, and helped them with their coats and small luggage. Before take-off, I demonstrated safety procedures. While airborne, I checked to make sure that safety belts were fastened when necessary; served drinks, snacks, or precooked meals; distributed reading materials; and answered general passenger inquiries. Conflict resolution was also a part of my work responsibilities but my most important duty was to provide assistance during emergencies, from reassuring passengers to opening doors and inflating emergency slides for evacuation. I was also trained to provide first aid.
