Solae, LLC is an international feed and food ingredient company specializing in soy processing and customized soy ingredients. It is a joint venture between DuPont and Bunge Limited with approximately 3,500 talented team members who take pride in customization. Solae, LLC enjoys over one billion dollars in annual sales. The Bellevue, Ohio facility is home to a seven million bushel storage facility, 2,750 ton/day crushing capacity, 100 ton/day concentrating capacity, 1.7 million lb/day oil refining capacity, and 120 ton/day of extrusion and specialty grinding capacity. It operates continuously with 162 employees.
Feb 2007 – Sept 2009 Production Manager
As Production Manager, I was in charge of the Extraction Department. The department consisted of soy preparation, hexane extraction, concentrate extraction, meal grinding, meal storage, meal loadout, and molasses loadout. I was responsible for five salary supervisors and 22 team members. I owned employee safety, process safety, process maintenance, process efficiencies, and environmental compliance for the department. Implementing and supporting DuPont Process Safety Management was also a large part of my role. I managed and forecasted for two different five million dollar operating budgets, one for each extraction process.
• Instituted SQDC boards, 5S, visual management systems and controls

The Operations Supervisor role consisted of overseeing the concentrate extraction process, two supervisors, and five team members. I spent a great deal of time on the floor with the operators in this role learning very effective ways to drive improvement and engage the team in continuous improvement.
