“Effect of Activated Carbon on Tannery Effluent”

The tannery effluent contains many hazardous chemical wastes. Necessary treatment should be performed before draining, considering the health hazards to the society. As a part of the curriculum project a pilot plant of capacity 10 L/hr to treat the tannery waste water was designed. The various parameters involved in the tannery effluent in the area of Nagelkeni in Chennai, was studied. The conclusion was Chromium recovery using Activated Carbon Filter (ACF) when compared to other existing common methods is more.
