QA Manager on Golden Gate Bridge North Approach Retrofit, in Mill Valley, CA for the Golden Gate Bridge Transportation District during the shop work and field work at the bridge from1995 to 2000. Monitored all QC testing of substrate blast media cleanliness prior to surface preparations, reclassification cleanliness of recycled abrasives, measuring surface profiles and MBR “Magnetic Base Readings”. Sending of coating samples for testing, observing all material mixing, applications with wet film thicknesses, assuring adequate cure of coating applications prior to DFT “Dry Film Thickness” testing and recoating of material(s). Witnessed and performed ASTM D 4541 Adhesion tests at specified periods, as per specifications. Monitored QC reports, kept inventories of materials delivered, prepared and shipped to bridge site from shop. At bridge site, monitored installations of prepared struts, girders, chords, laterals and channels, and alterations required in the field. Performed air monitoring, monitoring of air cleanliness in containments when Pb “lead” was removed. QC inspector on the Yaquina Bridge, in Newport, Ore. For the State of Oregon, Dept of Transportation during the field work on bridge. Performed all QC testing on substrate, blast media cleanliness prior to surface preparations, reclassification cleanliness of recycled abrasives, measuring surface profiles and MBR “Magnetic Base Readings” on all aspects of surface preparations, hand tooling, power tooling and open air abrasive blasting processes. Observed all material mixing, applications with wet film thicknesses, verifying adequate cure of coating applications prior to DFT “Dry Film Thickness” testing and recoating of material(s). Performed ASTM D 4541 Adhesion tests at specified periods of specifications. Kept inventories of materials delivered to shops and sites. Monitored all alterations required in the field.
Performed coatings failure analysis and assessments and coating systems surveys for power generating and
co-gen power plants at numerous facilities across the United States for Calpine energy, Chevron-Texaco, Shell Oil, Navajo Generating Power Plant. Projects information available upon request.
QA inspector on the I-95 Clifford Street Bridge for the State of Rhode Island Dept. of Transportation performed in shop.
