Now working as a consultant to: oil refineries, power plants, paper plants and water authorities. Successfully implemented PM/PdM and lubrication programs in paper plants, oil refineries and water authorities writing manuals and providing complete point per point PM routes. Consulted to Georgia Power and provided training. I have worked with and consulted to paper plants since 1983. Duties as project engineer for plant shut down & turn around for various plants and with ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia (develop budget, plan & schedule, vendor and contractor interaction). Project engineer for ARAMCO. Adept in machinery rebuild, design, modification and setup. Authored two books, many technical publications in maintenance magazines plus many writings on the Internet for magazines. Work with maintenance technicians to assist and train. I have been teaching machinery alignment for twenty-five years. I have a traceable track record of success with field proven results in preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance that have greatly reduced cost in maintenance and increased profit margins. I’m happy to supply names of numbers of such references. I, through teamwork, have taken plants to planned, scheduled maintenance with 100% availability and 100% reliability.

EDUCATION

East Tennessee State University, majoring in math. Four-year maintenance program with Eastman Kodak. Night school through the University of Tennessee (various courses and management courses through UT at Kingsport & certified to teach). Shell Oil Company’s management course. Seminars for alignment, balancing & maintenance (FAG, SKF, IRD, Kyowa, Ono Sokki, Gates, Bentley Nevada). Plus training in infrared and acoustics.

EXPERIENCE

Senior Reliability Engineer, March 2005 to June 2009

I provide vibration analyses services, balancing and alignment services as well as training. Hands-on when necessary and rebuilding equipment in conjunction with training both Union and non-Union. I also recommend or make equipment modification so that equipment will conform to operating specifications and demands

Specify pumps and applications and make appropriate operational calculation. Specified pumps for Crompton Corporations slurry operating system increasing life by eight fold. Make design modifications and engineering calculations.

Implemented PdM programs in paper plants (in one: two paper machines, line shafts & utilities coal fired boiler) and within two years we operated on planned scheduled maintenance eliminating maintenance overtime due to equipment problems and extended machinery life and maintenance intervals. Within five years maintenance personnel were reduced by 30%. I was reliability engineer and chief analyst providing maintenance engineering, scheduling, direction and training. Used real time analyzers, and various computer based programs (PdM Engineering, Entek, CSI, etc…).

I teach shaft-to-shaft machinery alignment training seminars covering Indicator Reverse, Long Spacer Coupling and Rim & Face methods along with laser and ‘hot’ alignment techniques for Georgia Power, chemical plants, paper plants and petroleum. Due to my reputation as rotating equipment specialists I was given a project of a long-standing maintenance problem on an offshore facility to increase production. After given the project, I made equipment corrections and modifications increasing production eighteen percent (18%) within three months. I made pump design changes to shipper pumps to decrease hydraulic impacting or vane passing vibration. After correcting long-standing equipment problems I was given my own division to implement a predictive maintenance (PdM) program for the Northern Area. I administered a budget for equipment, vehicles and manpower.

I interfaced with the electric motor shop in Dhahran to ensure mechanical and electrical integrity of motors for our Department and assisted with shop procedures for motor rebuild.
