Objective

Qualifications
23 years in the electric substation industry. An unblemished switching record over those 23 years. I am qualified in all aspects of testing, repairing, replacing and troubleshooting all types of substation equipment.
Education
I graduated high school from Milford High school in Milford MA. In June of 1985. Upon graduation I immediately entered the Massachusetts national guard and attended basic training and tech school, where I was trained in electronics and radar installation until December 1985. When I returned home I was Employed by National Grid in June of 1986. I started out my career as a meter reader and in February of 1988 entered the substation dept. I attended week long classroom and hands on training in, basic electricity, substation batteries, intro to power circuit breakers, intro to power transformers, switching and tagging, doble power factor testing, travel analyzer testing, load tap changer repair and replacement, and print reading. National Grid also requires each substation employee to attend annual expert training. This training reviews and recertifies each employee in first-aid and cpr, substation entry and security, asbestos removal, switching and tagging retesting, structure-bucket and manhole rescue, nerc and ferc regulatory requirements, and proper approach distance and working clearances.
Relevant Experience
I have worked in the public electrical utility field for 23 years. 22 of those years have been in the substation operations and maintenance department for National Grid U.S.A. I have extensive work experience in testing, repairing, and replacing all types of substation apparatus. My experiences have been with power circuit breakers, power transformers, station regulators, ccvt’s, potential and current transformers, insulators and bus work. I have progressed to the title of substation working leader, the highest grade in the national grid substation department. Some of the responsilbities as working leader included pre and post job safety briefings, which included tag points assigned to me, hazards located in the assigned work area, and the overall scope of the work to be performed. As each job progresses I was in charge of all the testing and associated paperwork. At the conclusion of each job it was my responsibility to see that the apparatus that was worked on was ready to be put back in service. The equipment I was assigned to work on ranged from voltages of 4kv-345kv. As well as the work aspect of the job I was often assigned to train new employees and took great pride in seeing them progress through and achieve their ultimate goals. I worked a 40 hour work week and was assigned to be on call for all emergencies 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I am currently employed with a public utility in Washington state. I started in April of 2010 and I am working as a substation journeyman, and also working with relay and meter testing and replacement in the field and in substations. Work Experience 11+ Yr
