Coordinator, Event Operations
As an Event Coordinator for Maple leaf sports and entertainment I work mainly out of two facilities – Ricoh Coliseum and BMO Field. My Job as a coordinator entails many things such as;
o Scheduling my contingent of part time staff for daily events which include; event supervisors, paramedics, police officers, security, food and beverage, IATSE, and other labour/unionized groups.
o Manage, organize and run the following events; All Toronto Marlies hockey games, All Toronto FC soccer games, The Canadian National Exhibition, The Royal Agricultural winter Fair, and The Toronto International boat show to name a few.
o I also manage the entire yearly events calendar for both Ricoh Coliseum and BMO Field
o Creating estimates and financial documents/settlements for clients for shows
o I manage, supervise and schedule building conversions for concerts and special events, which include as well technical load in and set up
o I also deal with several union groups so I am familiar with 506 collective bargaining agreement as well as very familiar with the IATSE collective bargaining agreement.
o On a smaller scale we deal with weekly rentals at Ricoh coliseum that involve preparing contracts/deal memos and booking one night a week rentals for clients that are looking to rent the ice.
o I also take care of all the financial aspects of events, such as receiving invoices, coding them to the appropriate location and keeping them all on file. For smaller rentals we send them invoice and then they send us payment. For larger events I create a settlement file in which we work with the client on finalizing costs and agreement upon payment on the night of the event.
o When booking events, I also compile their contract and deal memo in which they need to sign and return to me if they agree with the terms and conditions.
o Create daily information packages for all staff for every ongoing event.

Supervisor, Event Operations (P/T)
As a part of this company my duties entailed a variety of things;
o I executed high scaled events such as the Toronto International Boat Show, Me to We (Free the children), multiple AHL Toronto Marlies Hockey games, help run various leagues like the Downtown men’s hockey league and True North men’s and women’s hockey league
o I also helped execute corporate parties, and concerts like The Verve, Tiesto and Lamb of God
o For each event we act as the main contact for the Ricoh Coliseum for promoters and clients.
o Make production schedules for conversions of the building, from ice to concrete and for the purpose of scheduling for the entire event
o After the production schedules we make request for service, which is scheduling all the employees we need to work the event like security, labourers, electricians, ushers, paramedics etc.
o It is my job to make sure that the venue is completely prepared for whatever event we are holding.
o On the day of the event we arrive, make sure the building is prepared, go over all aspects with the head of each staffing department and commence the execution of event. We stay on site and help run the event; if problems arise we deal with them accordingly.

Receptionist
This company is one of the largest transport companies in Atlantic Canada. In this position I was situated at the front desk of the company, I dealt with anyone and everyone who came through the door, whether it be a customer or an employee. I answered the switchboard directing and handling all of the incoming calls to the company. I also attached and checked all the outgoing invoices to all of our customers. Booking meetings and boardroom time were also among my responsibilities.

Game Day Supervisor
As a part of this company, on every game day I would arrive get briefed by my boss about the game details and was giving the schedule for the game. I would return to meet the staff and we would prepare for the pre-game. The pre-game involved setting up different inflatable’s across the venue, placing staff to do the hand outs to spectators as they enter the building. As we set up the building we prepare the give a ways for during the game. The staff is given a schedule of when we are doing specific give a ways and get themselves in place. I go around the building with our mascot to make sure they do every scheduled visit and promotion. After the game we do some more give a ways until the building is empty, we then clean up put everything away do a de-briefing and go home.
