Employer: Thomas Built Buses (Freightliner) 10-16-02 to 06-29-05

Job description: Assembler

Job Roles and Responsibility: 1. Floor Cover Job: laying three rolls of floor covers of different sizes in buses sizing from 19ft to 37ft. Each bus takes three rolls, each of them about 50 to 85 pounds, have to roll the out and make sure they are not damage, then roll them half way back and use a heavy duty hose to put black sealant all around the floor corner. Then use a heavy duty hose to spray glue on the entire half floor, pick up the floor covers one at a time on my shoulder and lay it in a manner that it is straight. Then to make sure, I have to use my whole body weight and push them with my feet together to make it straight. Then do the same on the other half of the bus. To finalize the job, I have to use a knife to cut the floor cover from the wheel house area, the back of the bus, the front and over the fuel box so it won't over lap. Some buses have tracks all over the floor, once I'm done laying the floor cover I've to put cuts all over the tracks making sure there are in the proper place. Once I'm done with the floor I have to prepare the step thread for the bus. If the need to be cut cut them on an industrial saw put rubber siding all around them and place them on the steps.

2. Shoe molding job: The entire bus takes Shoe molding and isle strips that needs holes drilled and screw tight. For shoe molding I've to cut them around the wheel house and the fuel box area and in metal floor they are cut in an angle to fit and look adequate. After laying the shoe molding by the walls, I have to drill holes in them and put screws (using power tools) all around the bus making sure all the holes matches each other and the shoe molding is in a straight line. When laying isle strips on the middle floor cover I have to make sure there are in a straight line from the front of the bus to the end of it. They all need to be drilled and tacked in. On average each bus need 100 to 160 holes drilled out. Which means it needs the same amount of screws put in.

3. Utility job: I have been doing utility job for about past 6 months now. Basically it’s staying after work and working on Saturdays fixing a number of other jobs that were not done right. For example fixing the door job, window job hatchback window, escape hatch, lights and so forth.
