Academic Experience
Master’s Thesis: Investigation of Near-Infrared Light Propagation in Brain Model by Monte Carlo Simulation and
Phantom Experiment Feb 2010 - Dec 2011
• Upgraded one Monte Carlo simulation program coded in C/C++ to simulate near-infrared light propagation in a
computational brain model, and investigated the effect of changes in optical properties of brain on the light propagation,
analyzed results by Matlab including 3-D imaging, regression, error analysis,
• Implemented near-infrared light propagation experiments in a practical brain phantom model to verify simulation
Medical Device Design and Development Jan 2010 - Jun 2010
• Designed an integrated surgical platform which embeds a moveable and rotatable ultrasonic transducer to detect heart
failure non-invasively, and automatically during non-cardiac surgery by pulsed wave Doppler, color Doppler and tissue
Doppler, and filed a patent sample
• Accomplished a group project of a knee rehabilitation device according to FDA regulations, including device development,
market analysis, quality control, risk management, verification and clinical trails
Bachelor’s Thesis: Cardiovascular System Modeling and Simulation Sep 2008 - May 2009
• Built a cardiovascular system model with user interface by Simulink and GUI in Matlab, and investigated reactions of the
system under several clinical conditions such as heart failure by simulating the model
