I am working as Data Comm. Engineer in DAMCON (Subcontractor of HUAWEI) deputed at Lahore on PERN2 project assigned by HEC from February 2009. I am in MSD (Managed Services Department). PERN - Pakistan Education and Research Network is a national research and education network of Pakistan which connects premiere educational and research institutions of the country. I have to take care of 8 sub sites and one POP site. Major responsibilities are

• Troubleshoot and maintain Huawei NE-20, NE-40 and NE-80 Routers.

• 1st&2nd line trouble shooting of generated alarms and problems on the 24x7 basis

• Perform periodical network backups and health checks to determine network status.

• Checking/monitoring the OSPF and BGP peer relationship status.

• Monitoring MPLS traffic engineering.

• Checking/monitoring all the connected sites and their Bandwidth utilization and their fiber based issues.

• Reporting of all transmission problems and network performance.

• Faults escalation, follow up with field maintenance when needed.

• Checking/monitoring the status of interfaces and assign Bandwidth accordingly.

• Checking/monitoring the memory usage and traffic on interfaces.

• Taking backup configuration.
