Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance is a joint venture comprised of DaimlerChrysler, Hyundai, and Mitsubishi Motors for developing a line of shared engines.
• Measure, draft, design, and submit production line designs to research and development (R&D) for approval and implement and debug approved designs.
• Tear down defective engines returned from field to investigate and design solutions for production problems.
• Developed spreadsheet to consolidate faulty engine data, determine type and number of problems, and create graphs to help analyze common engine defects.
• Created and administered database used by 50 to 60 plant employees and management to input and retrieve data on engine check results.
• Designed shape gate for engines coming into ten different stations to ensure correct engine positioning reducing production costs by $5 thousand per day.
• Created positioning device to ensure front cover of engine was correctly placed reducing daily production loss by $2 thousand.
• Made modifications to automate filtration machines saving $450 thousand in system maintenance and productivity.
