PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Doncasters GCE Inc.-Chula Vista, Ca 91911 Mar 2008 to Present
Manufacturing Engineer
• Engineering Duties: Design and analysis of tooling and equipment. Automated/semi automated lean equipment including: automated indexer for spot welding machine; braze ring polisher, and braze ring braze tape applicator, conceptual design of semi automated machines for special processes. Robot weld fixtures for combustion covers, venturis, impingement sleeves, and transition ducts. Several different types of mill fixtures, gages, water jet tank and fixtures for cutting flat parts. Forming tool designs, lathe fixtures, and other specialty weld fixtures. Tool design package is NX 6 (Unigraphics)
• Manufacturing Engineer Duties: Mfg. engineering of Combustion Covers, Liners, Transitions, Impingement Sleeves, and Venturis for ground based gas turbines(Primary customer is GE): tooling concepts and designs for assemblies and detailed parts, co-ordination of CNC programming, welding, assembly for the combustion parts of the turbines, participate in weekly production meetings to determine areas of needed correction, PLC program editing and loading into equipment, print/specs/process interpretation, recommend and implement process improvement. CNC programming of the 4-axis water jet machine, 4 axis Vertical and Horizontal Mills, Okuma Lathes, 5-axis laser cutting, 5-axis mills, and CNC punch-CAD/CAM package is NX 6 (Unigraphics).
• Program Management and New Product Duties: Program Management of all new products: customer contact, product definition, design for manufacture, first article qualification, and shipping of product. Several new product development programs. These included five new combustion liners; new cast transition, various machined parts, and new combustion covers. New equipment definition and installation, including plant layout concepts.
West Coast Accudyne – Bell Gardens, Ca 90201 Mar 2007 to Mar 2008
Mechanical Project Engineer
• Engineering Duties: Mechanical Engineering and design of custom machinery, primarily hydraulic presses, machine frames, selection/sizing: bearings, couplings, gears, hydraulic cylinders, structural elements, etc., conceptual design, layouts, detailed design, design for stress/strength/deflections, etc. Proposal for new machinery: main projects were design of oil derrick linkage twisting and straightening machine, rubber processing equipment, and presses.
• Project Duties: Repair of machinery, coordination and management, writing of work plans or “routers” for the machine shop, weld shop, and assembly area; material selection and procurement, vendor coordination, interaction with customers; essentially complete project management of machine from conception to out the door per customer specifications.
