PROJECTS
Capstone Detail Design: Hydrophone Array
Purpose: Design, build, and test a hydrophone array that uses sound waves to detect objects in a water and mud substrate.
Process: Research wave propagation through different media and fabricate an array of microphones and receivers to best detect objects hidden beneath water.
Personal Contribution: Perform as Design Team Lead and develop power distribution plan for instrumentation.
Capstone Preliminary Design: Asteroid Seismology
Purpose: Design a mission to a potentially hazardous near-Earth asteroid. After rendezvous with asteroid, observe surface composition, surface structure, magnetic field, and thermal characteristics. Then use a system of seismic sensors and explosives to map the asteroid’s internal structure using reflective seismology.
Process: Research subsystems, reflective seismology, and previous missions. Use CATIA and ANSYS to create a spacecraft that meets mission needs.
Personal Contribution: Team lead of power and thermal. Assist in computer aided design and act as team editor.
SKILLS
Software: MATLAB, SIMULINK, CATIA V5, ANSYS; MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Languages: basic understanding of Japanese and Spanish
