LEAD SYSTEMS ENGINEER (2007-2009)

Developed a strategic plan to convert the companies IMS Item data repositories to DB2. These changes were projected to generate a savings of 50 million dollars over the course of 10 years. This consisted of analyzing & designing enhancements to over 200 existing programs, designing and creating new programs to unload, convert, and load the converted data to their new DB2 tables. This data stored on the DB2 tables is then taken through several programs which edited and converted that data to be loaded to TERADATA tables, to be stored on the companies Intranet which could be used by clients and vendors for forecasting and reporting.

Maintained a system to convert data stored on DB2, in preparation to load to TERADATA. This information was then used by clients inside and outside the company for reporting and forecasting.

Led a team of offshore contractors, as well as company employees to maintain and create new functions to support the companies Supply Chain Receiving Systems.

Performed analysis and created functional designs to meet Business Requirements.

Coded functional designs, created test scripts, tested, implemented for the above mentioned systems.

Reviewed and approved my colleagues test scripts and packages.

Created Project Plans using MS Project. This consisted of determining which functions needed to be created or enhanced for each project. Assigned the resources to each function, and kept track of which phase of the System Development Life Cycle each function was in and what percentage of that function was completed.

Over 20 years experience on the mainframe using COBOL as the primary language. Experience in coding batch and online programs in DB2 and IMS. Also, have maintained online CICS functions.

Over 10 years experience creating and maintaining SQL queries and COBOL functions consisting of SQL code.

Maintained the companies Store Receiving system, which provided data to the Account Payables system, to determine what and how much of the merchandise had been received at the store from the vendor. Also, provided the item cost, as well as the shipment cost to the Accounts Payable system so that they could determine the amount to be paid to the supply vendors for each shipment.

Created system flows, using Visio, to show system flows when needed. Also, used Visio to create the “Before” and “After” pictures of processes during the Requirements Phase of the System Development Life Cycle, for each new project.
