WORK EXPERIENCE

WOMANS TOTAL HEALTH CARE: Ultrasound Technologist, Angleton, TX. Job duties included performing early and complete OB, along with pelvic examinations. Tests were done in a timely fashion assuring accurate work while keeping patient satisfied. Assisting the doctor with amniocentesis procedures were done. Preparation of exam room, patient records and setting up patient properly according to test being given was done routinely. Keeping a clean and safe work environment for patients and staff was a must. Work was done in an independent setting working directly with physician.

THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS M.D. ANDERSON CANCER CENTER: Pharmacy Technician, Houston, TX. Preparation of intravenous chemotherapy and investigational drugs is the primary job duty. Investigational preparation requires following a in depth protocol required by supplier. Various compounding machines such as vortex mixers and water baths are used to prepare various drugs. Laminar flow deep hood cleaning is done weekly. In depth knowledge of Pyxis automatic dispensing station function is needed to routinely fill below par items, run reports and trouble shoot when needed. Good customer service is needed to interact with other departments to fulfill daily assignments efficiently. Expiration auditing is done daily to ensure out dated medication is removed from nursing units. Daily ordering is done through Cardinal to keep the daily par levels current with current needs.

THE WOMANS HOSPITAL OF TEXAS: Pharmacy Technician III, Houston, TX. Assist pharmacists in routine day to day tasks. Job responsibilities consist of preparing epidural bags, IV solutions, and TPNs using proper septic technique. Preparing neonatal IV solutions for daily usage are among job tasks. 797 processes are followed at all times while in clean room. Epidural pump programming and filling prescriptions are done daily. Compounding of oral and topical pediatric drugs is also included in job responsibilities. Refill of the Mckesson Acudose and Omnicell to keep medication levels at or above par. Monthly inspections for expired medications, along with the manufacturing of control items are a job expectation. Familiarity with Baxter compounding machines, the Automix, Micromix and Repeater Pump is a requirement. Patient reconciliation and billing is done daily. Anesthesia trays, narcotic pouches and NICU stabilization trays are filled regularly. Excellent communication and customer service skills are a must, while speed and accuracy are needed to provide the best patient care.

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

WEST HOUSTON MEDICAL CENTER and TEXAS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL: Familiarized with various ultrasound machines (Sequoia 3000/4000 and GE Logiq P5/700/9). Assist the sonographers with setting and cleaning up rooms before and after patient is seen. Professional and courteous customer service given to patients at all times. Gain experience performing various ultrasound scans in a variety of different clinical settings. Encounter sonographer and radiologist interaction where appropriate medical terminology is expected to be used. Work is done in an expediate and orderly manner to ensure sonographer and patient safety while keeping the workflow smooth.
