A primary testing objective is to ensure that RBCB customer and account information is converted to PNC CIF resulting in minimal to zero errors in the conversion of data. The accuracy of converted CIF data helps result in minimal impact to branches and call centers by lessening number of question or issues that would escalate to them from impacted customers. The clean CIF data should also result in downstream application such as Genesis and online banking having access to clean and accurate data.

An additional testing objective for the CIF team will be to successfully test the mailfile(s) that will be mailed to the converting customers . The goal of testing is to ensure the correct customers receive the correct mailers with the correct customer and account related data as dictated by the requirements for the mailing. A final primary objective is confirming that the implementation of relaxed edits results is significantly lower number of defects, while also ensuring that there are no unintended or negative customer due to the relaxed edits.

The Application is mainly divided into two processes, the Accounting Process and the Billing Process. The Accounting process receives data from variety of services and communication modes and processes the data. The processed data is either sent back to the countries for billing, or processed by the GBP billing process. The billing process receives usage and fixed accounting data supplied by the daily accounting system, along with real time data from MQ Series, and calculates charges that are stored in DB2 tables. The batch-processed charges are combined with real time charges and are used to calculate discounts for all the eligible customers. The combined charges are then summarized into charge account and control account for the month and loaded into various DB2 tables which are later used for reporting, invoicing, etc.

The GBP system supports multiple currencies and multiple languages providing a Year 2000 certified billing platform for countries throughout the world. The GBP system has both a batch process and an online real time process providing multiple facilities for receiving and processing billing data.
