EDUCATION:

University of Bridgeport, Connecticut MS in Mechanical Engineering [GPA: 3.2]

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Geometric Americas Inc. Apr 08 – Mar 10

Project Engineer

Client: Caterpillar

FE Analysis:

• As a FEA Structural Stress Analysis Engineer, performed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) structural stress vibration analysis for existing engine structure design. Created stress models and performed stress calculations for the engine supports, brackets, framing, and fan shafts. Designed stress models to determine the structural integrity, improve design, and achieve weight reduction.

• Approval of various FEA software models proposed new approaches to problems encountered and made recommendations for changes in methods, procedures or designs, and drafting of technical documentation, reports and other forms of communication in support of structural classification.

• Performed Vibration and Stress analysis on engine front supports, fead brackets and flywheel housings for C9, C13, C15 and C18 CAT engines using ABAQUS and Hypermesh.

• Analyzed the CAT FEAD brackets with various mountings being subjected to simultaneous belt loads in a gravitational environment in order to check for design and fatigue conformance.

• Studied and precisely determined the Displacements, stresses at elements, nodes to determine the Von Mises and Principal stresses.

• Applied Bolted joint analysis on various bolted components, investigating the strength of the joint and fastener integrity using Fastener-Advisor and conventional bolt joint physics.

Design:

• Design work encompasses researching and specifying new equipment, relocating existing equipment, structural engineering stress calculations for supporting newly designed spaces, and compiling a bill of materials for each new equipment and design.

• Modeling of components as per the manufacturing sequences using

CPPD (Concurrent product and Process Development) from rough stage to finished fabrication Stage.

• Articulated the ideas clearly using Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2.0 - 3D Modeling, generating ready for manufacturing drawings using GD&T and detailing / drafting.

• Strongly coordinated with the Checkers and Releasers and provided them detailing services and assisted in effective release of parts as per the Caterpillar standards and deadlines.

• Creating part and assembly drawing according to engineering standards and applying GD&T for individual part with self expertise.

• Creating Engineering Drawing Releasing and Change Notices furnishing the stock disposition details etc.

PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE

University of Bridgeport May 06 – Nov 07

Pro/E Teaching Assistant, Mechanical engineering Department

• Provided laboratory assistance to graduate & undergraduate students during class sessions.

• Assisted modeling (Pro/E) and analysis (Ansys) tips to undergraduate students during their projects.

• Guided to create parts like Helical Spring, Elliptical Bowl and Twisted Gear.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS:

Advance Computer Aided Design

• Part Modeling of components like crank, gear, steering wheel, flange by effective use of Pro/E features like Extrude, revolve, sweep, and blend, rounds, holes and chamfers.

• Solid modeling of Wheel Support Assembly, Double Bearing Assembly, Bracket Support Assembly by generating individual parts and created exploded views for them.

COURSE WORK:

Graduate: Manufacturing Strategy, Advanced Computer Aided Design, Finite Element Analysis, Advanced Mechanical Vibrations, Problems in Advanced Dynamics, CFD and Advanced Structural Design, Supply Chain.

Undergraduate: Kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery, Machine Design, Mechanics of Solids, Machine Drawing, Thermal Engineering and Computing Techniques.
