Julius Klein is one of the world’s leading diamond and diamond jewelry manufacturers specializing in high value, rare and important diamonds

• Recruited to conceptualize and implement this multi-million dollar company’s first-ever, full-scale, global communications campaign

• Report directly to the company’s Chief Executive Officer & President

• Responsible for an $8mm budget and a team of four staff members

Highlights of my role include:

Traditional Marketing & Advertising

• Researched and developed completely new brand identities (including updated brand propositions, logos, fonts, taglines, etc.) for Julius Klein NY, its six international subsidiaries and the company’s most public brand, Ritani

• Worked with creative agencies to develop consumer focused print and online campaigns for Ritani

• Successfully produced two different ad campaigns including researching & hiring models, photographers, make up/hair professionals and scouting the location; set design, product placement, post production, etc.

‘Ritani Real Moments’ integrated marketing campaign that appeared in top US fashion magazines and increased brand recognition

• Develop both trade and consumer media plans and negotiate ad placements

• Produced, wrote/edited and voiced over corporate, training and brand building videos for both Julius Klein and Ritani

• Write copy for both b2b and b2c advertising campaigns

• Partner with retail clientele to develop and execute co-op advertising & marketing campaigns and targeted, media driven promotions/special events in their stores

Social Media Marketing & Web Development

• Initiated and oversaw the re-design of the company’s corporate Website as well as that of Ritani

• Developed a retailer extranet for JKG clients whereby they could present our product to their customers on a Website branded as their own

• Work with SEO firm on a continuous basis on preparing ‘most searchable’ text for both Websites; Ritani consistently appears on page 1 of Google’s search for designer engagement rings

• Researched, interviewed and presently manage NYC-based social media marketing firm, together with whom the company increased Ritani Facebook fans from 7K (untargeted demo.) to 657K+ (targeted demo.)

• Integrated Ritani ‘Real Moments’ marketing campaign online to include Facebook fan participation

Public Relations

• Primary company spokesperson during trade and consumer media interviews, client/supplier meetings and to larger groups at important industry events

• Prepare press releases, pitch ideas/memos, editorial stories for both JKG & Ritani

• QVC television on air spokeswoman on behalf of Ritani for Diamonique (2009-2011)

• Work with national magazines to ensure jewelry placements for Ritani

• Assisted numerous, national television crews (PBS, Discovery Channel, Today Show, etc.) in the production of diamond related stories inclusive of Julius Klein

Relationship Management & Crisis Communications

• Develop, strengthen and manage effective working relations with retail clientele, manufacturers, suppliers, industry leaders and influencers

• Developed relationships with key government officials in Africa and leaders at our major suppliers, resulting in a greater openness toward company practices and initiatives and a near double increase in supply

• Repositioned the company in the eyes of retail clientele and trade media, moving it from a position as an un-engaged brand to one that is an industry leader product-wise, socially and technologically

• Solidified company’s reputation as a client-centric organization by focusing on exceptional levels of service for every transaction/interaction

• Developed and executed over 50 retailer sales training programs for clients; initiated 3x/year training program for Cartier international sales staff

• Shape communications responses following crises; advise on sensitive company related issues; promote positive stories and handle and resolve negative publicity

Strategic Planning

• Reconceived and redeveloped the Company's business plan to reflect an innovative, client-focused, technology efficient and capital-efficient growth enterprise; resulted in nearly doubling our diamond supply, customer base and provided government licenses to open 2 additional factories in southern Africa

• Created the company’s first formal Corporate Social Responsibility policy, garnering praise from the US State Department for our commitment to efforts that combat conflict diamonds

• Managed/executed public relations activities promoting diamonds internationally on behalf of De Beers (Diamond Trading Company)
