JOB PROFILE

Presently working with Siemens Ltd, Kalwa in Transformer division as Testing In-charge. During set up of factory, major responsibility was to install the VA TECH, Edinburgh Test plant facility suitable up-to 1200kV / 600 MVA large rating transformers which were shifted here in India. During the project stage I was responsible to coordinator with agency that was helping us in the installation of test plant equipments.

The test set up was commissioned independently as it was not part of agency that has dismantled it, has induced great learning while working on test set up installation & commissioning. Major facility was made operational without support of European manufactures.

Also procured new equipments and test set up integrated with safety system through PLC. Possessing good knowledge about test set up and hence minimizes the down time of the test plant equipments by maintaining it.

Equipped test facility to tests Shunt Reactor 400kV class, HVDC Transformer 500kV, Network, Power and Generator Transformers.

Good hands on experience in dealing with Partial discharge test in large rating transformers, including localization of pd based on microphones and developed tool, to learn pd signals acoustically. Easy to distinguish between internal and external pd signals.

Providing support to BHEL Bhopal under joint collaboration for testing of HVDC transformer as directed & nominated by siemens Germany for Balia Bhiwadi, Power Grid.

During delegation at Nuremberg, good hands on experience gained to test very large rating transformers. Maximum rating tested was Generator Transformer up to 1200MVA 400 kV class, Converter (HVDC) Transformers up to 500 MVA 500 kV and 321MVA, 800 kV and shunt reactors up to 170 MVAr, 550 kV class as per IEC and ANSI standards.

Support extended to Siemens India for developing test facility for Converter and Shunt reactor transformers testing during delegation based on good practice adopted. Testing transformer for Reactor testing calculated suitable to existing test set up to 125 MVAr in 400 kV class.

As a test expert, after sufficient good hands on experience, Siemens AG delegated to India during my delegation to support to test & train people for first product of HVDC Transformer and Shunt Reactor.

EMCO LTD.

In EMCO ltd, I was heading the Testing dept. Test plant was fully equipped to test 315MVA, 400kV transformers, where I have tested different types of transformers including power, Network, Generator, Freight Locomotive, Trackside and Furnace transformers as per IS, IEC and Ansi standards.

As a part of functional responsibilities, duties include carrying out of all types of Tests for transformers. Preparation of Test reports, Planning and co-ordination of resources for qualitative production and organization targets. Gave hands on Training to Engineers and Technician. Calibration of test equipments and up gradation of test plant to meet the customer demands and satisfaction level.

Worked on Project of Test report generation software and integration of Instruments to PC for error free TC and customized reports generation as per clients & test requirements.

Replaced Analog DC drive with 4P Digital Drive for 1200 / 600 kW Motors of MG sets. Installed & Commissioned 2600 kV, 156 kJ Impulse Generator with Mr. John Perryman - Testing Chief, Hawker Siddley, UK and maintained the same independently. Maintaining & up-keeping of testing facilities like intermediate testing Transformer, MG Sets, and HT Capacitor Banks.

RSO testing adopted at In-process test for analysis & feedback support to Design Dept. during design review and improvements, Maintaining & working inline with ISO: 9001.

ACHIEVEMENTS

- Tested 800 kV HVDC transformers for Southern and North grid China with clients and consultants like KEEMA and CESI.

- Developed tool to calculate testing transformer rating suitable existing to test set up to enable to test shunts reactors.

- Commissioned VA TECH Edinburgh Test Plant in Siemens Mumbai in the year 2007.

- Successful testing carried out on 1st prestigious orders of EMCO Ltd, of M/s TATA & MSEB for 250MVA, 220/105-115/33 kV Autotransformer and 315 MVA, 400/220/33 kV Auto Transformer. Tested 5 nos. 400 kV class transformers independently till date (1 No – 3Ph 315 MVA and 4 nos. 1 Ph 105MVA)

- Received ‘Chairman’s Award’ in appreciation with the performance for the year 02-03

- Received Best Suggestion award.

- Received award for ‘Best Department’ of the organization by up keeping & maintaining department as per QMS and won permanent trophy after winning ‘Best Dept’ award consequently 3 times.

- Received award by MD in appreciation with the turn over of the year 2003-04

- Received award of ‘Best Employee’ of the year 2004-05 in appreciation with performance and improvements done in Dept.
