Responsible for directing 7 Substation Mechanics in operation, construction and maintenance of electrical equipment including the following types : heavy equipment operation, rigging, concrete forms, structural steel erection, panel wiring, relay installation, high voltage equipment installation, high voltage electrical testing, battery systems, and general building construction and wiring at voltages up to 115 KV. Responsible for directing 8 Traveling Operators in safe and efficient operation of complex types of electrical Substations equipment including : transformers, load tap changers, distribution voltage regulators, oil/vacuum/SF6/air-magnetic circuit breakers, relays, disconnect switches of various types.
SHIFT SUPERVISOR - NORTHERN REGIONAL CONTROL. Responsible for maintaining safe and efficient operation of transmission, distribution and generation plant and assets in excess of 1.5 billion dollars in the Northern New York region. Interfaced with other NMPC Control Centers, Interconnected Member Utilities in the New York Power Pool, Large industrial customers, and Non- Utility Generators for problem resolution, switching instructions, safety procedures, energy and reactive transfer flows. Acted as the sole management authority during non-business day hours for mobilizing corporate resources for repair and maintenance of company facilities. Responsible for directing 6 Regional Operators, 10 Traveling Operators, and various field personnel including Relay, T&D and Substations Crews in the operation of 50 Hydroelectric Generating Stations, 45 Non-Utility Generating stations, 150 Substations, and over 7,000 square miles of transmission and distribution facilities involving service to 125,000 customers. CONSUMER ADVISOR. Responsible for maintaining relationships with 22 Municipal, Large Commercial and Industrial customers. Maintained relationships with the County, Town and City governments in the Oswego and Fulton, New York areas. Acted as liaison between Niagara Mohawk and local Industrial Development Agencies in attracting new businesses to the geographical area and installing Electric and Natural Gas service to new industrial customers. Member of the Nine Mile Point nuclear site Emergency Response Team for public information responsiveness during site drills and events. Directed 4 Traveling Operators in system operations of 75 substations, 15 transmission lines, 40 sub transmission lines and over 4500 square miles of distribution facilities. Maintained acceptable customer voltage and direct system adjustments to maintain reliability. Responsible for system problem analysis, disturbance restoration, customer contact, direction of field crews during normal operations and system emergencies, supervisor notification and maintenance of logs detailing abnormal system events.
