Clients usually begin a project knowing exactly what they need and, less exactly, what they want. An able I.T. engineer begins, answering need, anticipates want and fuses the two into a useful solution that leaves room for growth and expansion. That's the sort of observation and commitment that only becomes clear with experience.

The goal itself is rarely complicated. Clients want a result in a time frame. A programmer needs to effectively answer that need, in that time frame and take one step further. One more pointed effort to take the development from a simple solution to a clean elegant tool that reliably advances the state of the work flow.

My career and practice, for more than twenty years, represents an achievement oriented focus. Getting a job done effectively and on time is needful but repair is less effective than innovation. I've worked in the health, traffic safety, security, education and publishing industries and, in all of them, what was needed was only the beginning of what could be accomplished.
