Senior Datacenter Operations Engineer
Private equity management company with more than 300 employees worldwide. Worked primarily as a project manager for the infrastructure group. Monitored all infrastructure systems using Nimsoft and served as administrator for that application deploying and configuring robots and related duties. Met frequently with stakeholders of individual projects and provided updates to senior management.
Implemented operational framework and 24x7 monitoring of infrastructure environment. Accountable for Change Management controls, infrastructure and application availability and Service Level Agreement development serving 315 local and remote end users, 180 Windows servers and seven WAN connections throughout North America, Europe and Southeast Asia.
Project Manager for the design and implementation of operational readiness and compliance initiatives to comply with SAS70 regulatory requirements.
Composed documentation for change control, asset management and data security to satisfy SAS70 requirements. Began with project when it had received 12 audit failures; turned around project receiving only one partial compliance infraction on next audit.
Implemented ITILv2 concepts of change control and availability to increase communication and accountability of changes to the infrastructure and application environment. Began with no change control in place and over 85% of measurable changes unauthorized. Following implementation, training of staff and a software monitoring solution reduced the percentage of unauthorized changes to zero.
Configured dynamic alerting of on-call application and support personnel. Prepared reports on various aspects of datacenter components to allow 24x7 support coverage. Composed reports on open alerts and disseminated at weekly infrastructure team meeting. Increasing visibility of critical, major and minor alerts using these reports increased accountability.
Led the effort to reconfigure after hours alerting process and system eliminating 100% of false positive alerts.
Assisted in conducting simulated disaster events to verify the Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan. Four events were conducted in 2008. Performed daily triage of work assignments and provided level 3 technical support for all systems and services.
Managed all IT infrastructure projects and supervised support staff. In charge of organizational planning of software and hardware rollouts, vendor negotiation and supervising MIS Helpdesk and Systems Administration teams.
Environment consisted of 140 local and remote end users, 70 Windows servers and three WAN connections to offices in North America.
