Experience Summary

I have total of 9 years of work experience as DBA, in Unix environment AIX, Sun OS, Linux and. My experience includes Database administration & designing. Have extensive hands on experience in performance tuning of databases in the areas of SQL tuning, database configuration parameters tuning and restructuring the database objects. Have good experience in writing Unix shell scripts for database’s deployment suite and automating repeated operational jobs.

I am skilled in database backup and recovery methods. Also, I have handled the disaster recovery site for production servers.

Have used the data modelling tools like Power designer, Erwin data model &. Relational data architect in data modelling and re-engineering.

Have automated the many routine DBA jobs using Korn shell programming & embedded DB2 commands. I have contributed to team management role in managing the database team and interacting with clients for day to day activities, weekly meetings and during escalations.

Role • I was leading the database team in technology practise group for BFSI domain.

• I have written few Unix shell scripts for facilitating the production DBA teams in monitoring the database.

• Currently undergoing the Infosphere training from IBM for cross selling the product to Wipro customers.

Description TCS supports end-to-end infrastructure services in all verticals viz. database administration, Aix & windows servers administration, Network & firewall administration, etc.

Under Database administration, a team of 4 associates work in different technologies including DB2 UDB, Oracle &SQL server. I was the team leader for the DBA team.

Role • I am the single point of contact for all the 12 mission critical applications which runs in DB2 UDB on Aix.

• Manage all the operations DBA activities

• Performed the tuning activities in meeting the bench mark /throughput in execution timelines.

Description Development DBA working in projects namely RCS, VERA & MPS.

Role Was leading a Development DBA team of 2 members.

1) Manage the data model for change requests which involves database changes

2) Creation of DDL patches

3) Creation and Managing the deployment suite (It involves series of Unix korn shell scripts embedding db2 commands for deriving baseline, applying database DDL patches and load the reference dataset, reset of Identities/sequences, Integrity issues).

4) Performance engineering activities of SQL query optimisation in Performance Testing(PT) server

5) Manage the database issues from develop team/ testing team which pops from Dev server, System testing server, QA server & PT server

6) Take care of build & release of schemas in above environments.

7) Maintain all the database changes in Clearcase for version control management and extends support to production DBA team during the rollout of change requests.

Description It is a maintenance support activities for the DuPont project for SAP BW servers. The SAP BW Production server is running in a multi partitioned database with 47 partitions and the database size is 17 TB.

Description It is a maintenance support and enhancement to the client which supported the business of Investment management in the banking industry. There are many banking applications like Simcorp Dimension, Finance kit, Charles river and Swift messaging were used where Cloverleaf is used as an interface for the rest of the applications.

Role • Configuring UDB environment and supporting on Data stage, Tivoli for different environment’s development, SIT, UAT and Production.

Description Endeavour is an enhancement project for Combined Insurance Company of America’s UK & Ireland implementations.

Role • Involved in the DB2 database administration and AS400 system administration for IBM iseries servers. I held the key responsibilities to fix all the data issues to help the migration team

• Actively participated in Data modelling for the integration of database for continents of Europe (UK, Ireland) & Australia. It involved the interaction with business Analysts for understanding the proposed model of data structure.

• Performed the backup strategies of online backup and offline backup

• Monitored the database at table space level. Increased the size of table space by increasing the size of the containers and also by adding new containers.

• Moved tables from one table space to another table space

• Involved in buffer pool tuning by maintaining the buffer pool hit ratio at 95%

• Created new buffer pool exclusive for some table spaces.

• Access privilege to the databases is maintained at different levels.

• Executed the Runstats utility to update the access plan

• Used the utilities of Reorgchk and Reorg to expedite the performance of the database.

• Responsibilities include maintaining different versions of databases for development, unit testing and System testing activities.

• Took the response for all the schema upgrades in the new build release. He was working closely with the data migration team in related to the generation of the base database and data modeling for this project.

• Involved as part-time build manager performing activities like build a new version, upgrading schema patches, exporting the business rules and release the version with release notes.
