SUMMARY
Fourteen years professional experience in developing intensive database and non-database systems. Systems
designed, developed, and delivered range from Pocket PC devices to multi-tiered enterprises. Industry
experience includes public education finance reform, child welfare systems, warehouse materials management,
hospital and surgeon information systems, language instruction, and various small to medium business
contexts. I am very experienced in troubleshooting existing systems and identifying fault points, whether in
client code, server code, or business processes. This is especially true in PowerBuilder environments.
Furthermore, my business, technical, and procedural experience allows me to analyze problem domains
beyond that of a single perspective to provide proactive and cooperative technical solutions.

WORK HISTORY
Picis, Inc. Boston, MA Aug 2008 – Oct 2009
Application Support Engineer II
• Provide application, database, and operating system support for high-priority and escalated service requests,
including programming PowerBuilder objects, coding database procedure and triggers, BP analysis, and
database/OS performance optimization. Many dozens of systems supported with a myriad of applications
and interfaces, each highly customized with high transactional volume and large historical data sets.
• Repair data integrity issues, provide critical workarounds, bulk data loads/unloads, design and test code
improvements, data conversions, and function as a liaison to the development team.
• Modify stored procedures and triggers for site-specific solutions. Developed PowerBuilder and SQL toolkits
for efficient reuse and standardization thus saving time for issues requiring a deeper, more specific analysis.
• Primary system platform of PowerBuilder 9/11.2 w/PFC, VB 7, Crystal 8.5-12, and MS SQL 2000-2005.
Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), Providence, RI Oct 2007 – Jun 2008
Contract Application Developer
• Design, code and improve application modules for case-worker management software using BA specificatins,
comprehensive code reviews, and subject-matter expert discussions.
• Work with business analysts and test engineers to ensure design and performance compliance.
• PowerBuilder 8 and Sybase SQL Server 11.
Department of Human Resources (DHR), Baltimore, MD July 2005- April 2007
Contract Application Developer
• Research run-time errors, performance issues, and database performance providing client and engineers with
technical and contextual feedback.
• Develop data analysis tools to find and aid in repairing data anomalies and integrity violations.
• Develop applications to automate data delivery, distribute reports, and monitor distributed services.
• PowerBuilder 10, EAServer 5.2, and IBM DB2.
MegaHertz Computing, Austin, TX 2003-2005
Independent Contract Application Developer
• Developed data-driven and dynamic SQL reporting interfaces for existing client-server application.
• Provided nationwide installation, on-site development and training for existing and new client’s customers.
• PowerBuilder 8 and Sybase ASA v. 9.
Adecco Technical, Austin, TX 2003-2004
Contract Application Developer
• Designed and developed a dynamic solution for an existing PowerBuilder application to interface with a
digital-motor API through modifying application inheritance and utilizing run-time instantiation. This
solution advanced deployment by 3 weeks and prevented the development of a separate application.
• Designed and developed computation intensive reports, installation wizards, NT service monitor, and
improved database performance significantly through retained SQL statements and procedures, utilization
of advanced trigger support, and optimal database architecture.
Harvestware, Dallas, TX, and Austin, TX 1998-2003
Principal
• Primary development platform consisting of Sybase PowerBuilder Enterprise and SQL Anywhere.
Projects include K-12 Education Finance Reform applications, primary operations software for small to
medium moving companies, HTML and CGI enhancements, and providing applet-type solutions for
existing applications.
• Designed and developed new-version features for K-12 Finance Reform Tool to include data-driven
application features, such as user-defined data attributes, alternate spelling support for Canadian versions,
and flexible data hierarchies for improved data grouping, process implementation, and varied legislative
reporting requirements.
Coopers & Lybrand, L.L.P., Dallas, TX (now PricewaterhouseCoopers, L.L.P.) 1994-1998
Senior Associate (1997-1998), Associate (1995-1997), Intern (1994)
• During this period I worked as project manager/developer coordinating our implementation specialists and
technical support personnel to provide and develop new product features and enhancements.
• Managed 3-person RAD team to develop and implement another K-12 Education technology tool. This
project was developed in two months and incorporated a 3-tier distributed PowerBuilder application using
partitioned object design. The system delivered HTML content to a CGI server, running Microsoft IIS.
Provided on-site installation support in the Houston ISD, one of the largest school districts in the country.
• Worked as the technical project lead on K-12 finance reform application by providing ideas and solutions
for new enhancements, managing 2-5 developers, assisting testing efforts, providing special technical
solutions, and acting as the technical support engineer for high-level issues. Provided QA/peer review
support for an Oracle initiative by validating PL/SQL, researching controls, and managing database.
• Migrated PowerBuilder 2.0 application to 3.0 incorporating a new class library. Designed and developed
more efficient data entry process, decreasing data entry time by 70%. Worked in Manhattan as sole
developer on a software tool designed to bring cost-based accounting reports to K-12 school districts.
