Summary: I am a self-motivated, organized worker with an acute attention to detail. I work well in team environments and have obtained high-level design skills in the engineering industry.
Education: University of Massachusetts Amherst May 2012
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
GPA: 3.1/4.0
Middlesex Community College Bedford, MA
Associate in Science in Engineering Science May 2009
GPA: 3.7/4.0
Relevant Coursework:
Thermo-Fluid Design, Design of Mechanical Systems, Wind Energy Systems, Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Processes, Heat Transfer, Engineering Lab
Experience: Airvana Chelmsford, MA
Lab Services Intern June 2005 – August 2011
Data center cooling projects: Independently designed and installed cold air intake ducts for two Cisco Catalyst 6500 series chassis. Installed baffling to separate airflow channels in rack isles to increase AC cooling efficiency. Performed maintenance on Liebert AC units.
Configuration and installation of Routers, Metrocells, RNCs, Switches, and Terminal servers (Cisco, 3com, HP, Xyplex, etc.)
Assisted in maintaining electrical infrastructure (installation of power drops, breakers, etc.)
Electrical component diagnose & repair (repaired power supplies, fans, mother boards, etc.)
Assessment of data center power consumption. Monitored electric meters and temperature measurements and coordinated buss bar balancing across three phase power.
Custom cable/adapter soldering and assembly for lab equipment connectivity.
Projects: Design of Mechanical Systems March 2012
Designed and built an innovative backpack frame and hip support system for a senior
capstone design project.
Engineers Without Borders – Kenya January 2012
Traveled to Kenya, Africa and worked with a group of engineers from UMass Amherst and Smith College, to design and install a rainwater catchment system at a health clinic. Performed well water tests, and accomplished disassembly and mechanical assessment on an Afrodev well bore hand pump. Helped design a solar powered water treatment system that will be implemented on an EWB team’s future visit.
Design of Mechanical Assemblies December 2011
Designed a band brake assembly for a DC electric motor using SolidWorks.
Thermo-Fluid Design Sept-Dec 2011
Semester long project on a windmill design, where I worked with a team to devise an optimal design for the blade specifications and mechanical components of a windmill.
Computer Skills: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ANSYS Workbench, LabView, Microsoft Office, Visio, Matlab
Awards/Activities: Received the Engineering Science Award at Middlesex Community College
Member of EWB (Engineers Without Borders)
Member of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers)
Certified advanced SCUBA diver
