SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Built plan of reorganization. Chosen by Pilgrim’s Pride CEO to serve the lead role in the company restructuring. Developed sophisticated five year model including monthly sales and production detail and was key liaison among financial advisors ensuring understanding of weekly deliverables. Set the stage for successful sale of company.
Reduced purchase price of acquisition. Pilgrim’s Pride purchased $2.3B division of ConAgra. Financial processes of the companies had to be consolidated and final purchase price was dependent on asset / liability adjustments. Led accounting team and auditors, identifying adjustments, and reducing purchase price by $40M.
Developed process to contain capital expenses. Pilgrim’s Pride was growing rapidly and yearly capital requests were far in excess of available funds. Created process to categorize requests, including asset type and urgency, as well as financial justification. Gained better control of capital expenses, reducing total funds requested.
Integrated financial functions following acquisitions. Austin Coca-Cola had acquired five companies in short period of time and financial functions needed to be integrated. Established all policies and procedures for integration and led financial team through project. Successfully consolidated companies into one $200M division.
Created financial pricing matrix. Method was needed at Pilgrim’s to more effectively analyze sales by product grouping, market segment, customer and gross margin / profitability. Developed detailed pricing matrix, clearly illustrating data. Used monthly detailed analysis to establish pricing and upgrade financial return on sales.
CAREER HISTORY
Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. - $7B producer of poultry products, operating in over 17 states, selling in over 30 countries
VP Finance / Strategic Planning, 2008 to 2010. Assigned lead role by CEO to work with Chief Restructuring Officer and develop a plan of reorganization. Developed business model that included sales and operational metrics, income statements, balance sheet, cash flow and bank covenants. Led yearly financial budgeting process.
VP Finance and Sales Operations, 2003 to 2008. Diverse accountabilities including management over finance, a sales planning and analytics team, customer service, and sales IT personnel. Streamlined operations and saved over $900K in staffing costs. Developed sales data reporting system. Managed 75 personnel and $3.5M budget.
VP / Corporate Controller, 1997 to 2002. Charged with responsibility over corporate accounting, company financials, GAAP and SOX operational and capital planning and budgeting, forecasting, costing, KPI’s and analysis. Conducted analysis, due diligence and accounting integration of four major acquisitions. SAP – FI, CO, BW, CRM
Controller, 1992 to 1996. Controller for company’s largest manufacturing complex presided over production data, accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, invoicing, accounts payable, payroll and period closes.
