Summary

Over the last three decades, education/teaching/training has been an over-arching part of

my professional experience. That experience includes everything from teaching in

schools; to developing the learning outcomes and course content for a master level

graduate class I taught on Strategic Decision-Making; to presenting workshops,

professional trainings, and providing consulting services. Within me is a passion to teach

others to be empowered and inspired. My professional experience also includes research

as I worked on criminal justice substance abuse treatment projects - collecting, analyzing,

and reporting data while on university soft money through federal grant funding. Most

recent experience was a promotion transitioning me from a researcher position to

research administrator. In my role as the Texas Christian University (TCU) Director of

Sponsored Research, I provided leadership for university faculty/staff seeking external

grant funding for research and academic scholarly endeavors. I am looking for a career

where I can use my experience and education to bring about growth and success for an

organization.

• Under my four-year tenure as director the office doubled in size (1.5 to 3 full-time

staff) and handled more than 400 grant and contract proposals.

Grant proposals submitted increased 100% (60 to 120); Grants awarded to TCU

also increased 100% (26 to 53); and Award dollars increased 78% ($4,523,760 to

$8,028,579).

Average proposal success rates are 20-33% depending on the field. Under my

tenure, the TCU success rate for the last 5 years was 46%.

Served on the TCU Institutional Review Board (IRB) for four years.

Spotlighted Achievements:

• While working full-time at IBR, I began and graduated with a second master level

degree (M.S.) and with a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology.

• From 2003-2008, I served the Literature Author for "Offender Substance Abuse

Report - OSAR" which was published bimonthly by Civic Research Institute.

• Participated in Toastmasters International and also served in leadership as the

Treasurer. This experience was valuable with the trainings and Power Point

presentations (over 40) given.

• With my colleagues from the IBR, I am co-author on five peer-review

publications such as Criminal Justice and Behavior, Journal of Offender

Rehabilitation, Crime and Delinquency, and the Journal of College Counseling.

• Graduated from the TCU Professional Development Management Institute after

the completion of 10 in-class modules. These include: Customer Service,

Management, and Team Building, among others.
