As a General Superintendent I was responsible for handling all aspects of Civil through Finish Trades and Commissioning. I strongly believe that proper budgeting, scheduling, working the schedule and buyout is key to the overall success of the project. For this reason, the projects that I was responsible for, 100% of concrete work was self-performed. Throughout my career, I have successfully managed up to 6 projects simultaneously. Within the industry, projects ranged up to $400 Million.

Building experience includes the following divisions: Education, Life Science, Hospitality, Health Care, Federal Detention Centers, and Amusement/Theme Parks.

General Superintendent

Orlando, Fl

Directed operations with crew up to 80 project workers; most recently oversaw $400 million in projects for Seminole County, FL School system. As a General Superintendent responsibilities included Direct Operations, Project Presentations and Consulting Work. The divisions listed below represent the construction categories in which I have managed during my career with BE&K.

Educational

Oversaw $400 million dollars worth of educational facilities all of which were occupied campuses k-12 and college level. One middle school and 2 high schools were completed 6 months ahead of schedule, the remaining projects completed on time. All projects made projected fee including additional fee up to 15% on self performed work.

Educational Hurricane Projects

-Seminole County Public Schools: $7 million repairs project to 51 campuses repairing structural and architectural damage. Due to the relationships I have made with suppliers outside of immediate area, I was able to obtain the necessary materials that others could not to complete the project. Seminole County School was the 1st school within 20 counties to reopen after hurricane.

-Seminole County Public School Administration Building. Within 20 minutes of damage, I was personally contacted by the school board to handle and assess damages. I arrived on site within 30 minutes of the phone call. Overall, I was responsible for working directly with FEMA. Windows and roof were removed from Hurricane, a plan was developed immediately. I oversaw 20 employees to dry in. Owner reoccupied facility within one week and project was completed around the owners schedule in off hours within 6 months.

Healthcare

$50 Million project. Responsibilities included performing duties as the consultant/constructability review - South Dallas Baptist Hospital, Mesquite, TX. Responsibilities included working with local and state inspectors to bring previously closed hospital up to code and to obtain service as a LTACH Hospital. Responsibilities also included managing M.E.P. consultants. Extensive travel was required.

Hospitality

-St Croix: Commercial Credit Project: Cabala Resort. Upon my arrival, 50% of building was shut down due to storm damage. Responsibilities for this project included acting as the consultant along with M.E.P. structural/architectural consultants to establish plans and bid documents for the renovation of facility.

-Managed and oversaw the completion of 2 hotels in Ft. Lauderdale for Star Wood properties,. An aggressive deadline was developed as completion was required to achieve opening for the Super Bowl. Successfully completed both projects by deadline and project received $250,000 bonus.

-Successfully negotiated additional work in Florida Keys for a hotel also owned by Star Wood Properties, which was solely based upon prior accomplishment. Extensive Travel was required.

Lifescience

Ivax Pharma-Miami, Biogen Pharma-NC, Trident Research Labs-Jacksonville, FL

Responsibilities included overseeing projects through design, buy-out, construction and commissioning as General Superintendent. Achieved and exceeded extensive tight deadlines, equipment deadline dates and validation procedures.

Amusement/Theme Parks

$300 Million Project. As General Superintendent I successfully completed projects including overseeing 2 amusement rides and 1 water park for Busch Entertainment at 2 different theme parks. My fluency and previous experience with Metric & Newton Systems enabled me to train crews to utilize the system. Directed operations and worked directly with Vicimo (Holland Ride Manufacturer) to construct rides.

Industrial

-Palm Meadows, Boca Raton, FL. Directed the construction of first commercial facility for animal waste from Horse Racetrack. Consistently worked with Australian manufacturer. Training was conducted as plans were in Metric & Newton. Successfully able to achieve 7000 cubic yards of concrete and 400 tons of rebar were self performed on site full time for concrete work. Worked directly with manufacturing representative with the installation of all digesting equipment.

-Due to positive working relationship, I was able to negotiate renovation of Gulfstream Race track in Davie, FL.

Kvaerner Construction January 1989 to November 2000

Managed all aspects of $162 million development and construction of medical and educational facilities throughout Florida. Due to my experience and qualifications, my position changed as I was responsible for taking over projects that I did not supervise. The projects that I was responsible for taking over were either over budget, behind schedule, developmental issues or not properly being managed. Projects were located in North Carolina, Indianapolis, and Florida.
