Academic Projects
1. MIMO and Space Time Transmit Diversity Simulation
Programming Language: MATLAB 7.5
Synopsis: The whole purpose of this project was to analyze the effect of noise in the message in Rayleigh fading channel using MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) system and STTD (Space-Time Transmit Diversity) scheme. For Alamouti’s code, maximum likelihood channel coefficient estimation and its effect on error performance was taken in account. Study was done on basis of calculation of symbol error rate for various SNR values.
2. FDM and CDM channel sounding structure
Programming Language: MATLAB 7.5 Simulink. Developer: The MathWorks
Synopsis: In this project, the channel is estimated based on Frequency and Code Division Multiplexing sounding structure. The estimated channel is compared with a reference channel and mean square error is calculated for various numbers of users. Finally, result is taken on basis of the plot of MSE with SNR (dB).
3. Rate versus Power Control for IS-95 and CDMA2000 1 EV-DO
Programming Language: MATLAB 7.8 Developer: The MathWorks
Synopsis: The three power control schemes employed in IS-95 and CDMA 2000 standard, that is, Channel inversion, Equal Power allocation and Water-Filling. The rate versus power control or channel capacity versus SNR is compared for each scheme on SISO, SIMO, MISO and MIMO Systems. A detailed comparison of various schemes with their simulation results is presented.
4. Characterization of indoor radio channel at 2.4 GHz
NI PXI or HP 8753C Network Analyzer, Signal Generators and Wi-Fi Omni directional antennas
Synopsis: Estimation of Path Loss Exponent and Real time Path Loss exponent.
Temporal Variations: Empirical cumulative probability distribution function for the measurement data is obtained and tested against each one of five theoretical distributions normally encountered in describing multipath fading phenomenon (i.e., Rayleigh, Lognormal, Nakagami, Rice, and Weibull).
Multipath Channel Parameters: Delay profile measurements will be conducted and the multipath channel parameters such as channel impulse response, delay spread and coherence bandwidth are measured.
5. Study the operation of the interface between a computer and the internet
Network Protocol Analyzer: Wireshark 1.2.6
6. PLC based Batch Processing System
Synopsis: This project is the implementation of Instrumentation & Control of various processes, involved in the batch processing system. This is Tri-stage processing system. In this, PLC is used for Level Control, Ratio Control and Flow Control. Here two electronic circuitries are employed for sensing & controlling the temperature of the containers by using Thermistor & Thermocouple (Temperature Control). Finally the viscosity of inflowing liquid in third stage container is determined by employing Redwood Viscometer (Viscosity Measurement).
