CHRONOLOGY OF EXPERIENCE

Austin Energy, City of Austin, TX February 2008 to Till Date

Project Title: C&I (Commercial & Industrial) Customer Data mart

Description: C&I Data mart provides the ability for individual accounts to be accessed by customers. It provides key account customers an online portal interface with access to their historical billing data for electricity, water, wastewater, solid waste, drainage usage, miscellaneous adjustments and transportation user fees. The system provides the capability for identifying the customers, drill down to account level and identify all the details pertaining to usage, billing, payments, etc.

The purpose of this project is to gather the data related to key accounts from CIS (Customer Information System) database and load it into C&I data mart which would be used for generating reports. The data will go through few steps before it’s available for reporting. The source data will first be replicated into pre-staging tables. After the data is loaded into pre-staging, data is then moved to staging. While pre-staging is designed to reflect the source, staging is designed to ultimately ready the data for the data mart. Finally data will be moved from the staging database to the C&I Usage History Data mart.

Roles and Responsibilities:

 Involved in analyzing business requirements and design documents.

 Designed and developed jobs using Datastage/Qualitystage 8.0 for loading the data into Dimension and Fact Tables.

 Used Quality Stage to standardize names and addresses.

 Standardized customer dimension data and load into datamart.

 Implemented slowly changing dimensions using SCD stage and database sequences.

 Created PL/SQL procedures to implement complex business logic and calculations for loading the Fact Tables.

 Used Complex Queries for data extraction from Source and Staging.

 Responsible for preparing comprehensive test plans and thorough testing of the system keeping the business users involved in the UAT(User Acceptance Testing)

 Reviewed and approved code changes that are implemented as a part of releases or support activities.

 Design and developed jobs using Parallel Extender for splitting bulk data into subsets and dynamically distributing to all available nodes to achieve best Job performance.

 Designed DataStage sequences to specify Job execution order.
