Senior Risk Analyst

• Supported Zachry’s Director of Risk Management on day to day basis dealing with risk/safety operations.

• Responsible for obtaining underwriting information for various insurance policies.

• Accrual Analysis conducted each week on payroll.

• Ran CDL’s and drug screens for potential and random employees.

• Analyzed future payroll and revenue for potential projects, by extracting the data from an internal accounting program called CMIS. The projected revenue would be obtained by reviewing the contract construction schedule. This would output the potential revenue for the duration of the project. Also, analyzed how payroll and revenue variances affected annual premiums, using Microsoft Excel

• Developed annual future loss prediction in conjunction with an actuary utilizing Microsoft Access by gathering losses and premiums paid in previous years. Once the Actuary had computed the prediction for future losses, we presented this information to upper management.

• Created and maintained a monthly log of Zachry and its subsidiaries’ equipment assets and licensed vehicles. This would be presented to underwriters for quotes on our yearly Auto Liability coverage.

• Placed Project Specific casualty coverage as contractually required in support of various joint venture projects.

• Negotiated with potential Joint Venture Partners on Insurance Requirements and limits.

• Reviewed yearly renewal quotes, deductibles and gave recommendations.

• Responsible for day to day risk/safety operations on Zachry Hospitality’s assets, including Sunset Station and the Hilton Palacio del Rio.

• Assembled annual risk management department budget and presented it to Zachry Construction Corporation’s Board of Trustees. By not sending claims to insurance carriers, we saved approximately 10-15% each year on expenses and costs.

• Workers Compensation and General Liability claims experience and handling.

• Obtained various Ocean Marine Cargo policies for Zachry’s foreign jobs.

• Conducted monthly meeting with internal operations on mitigating risk and safety.

• Ran CCIP (Contractor’s Controlled Insurance Program) on various projects exceeding $100m, presenting modified insurance rates which offered greater savings for both the owner and contractor.

• Data Analysis on Risk Management’s accrual to see how much we needed to pay claims, premiums. This would result in bumping up the rates 1-2% yearly.

Achievements

• Captive Program initiation for projects greater than $125mm. This required a financial analysis on Zachry, which included payroll and revenue outlook.

• Developed new Workers Comp and General Liability rating by extracting payroll and future losses and obtaining rates. This helped overall by 3-4% in savings.

• Obtained competitive pricing by going out to several insurance markets and secure lower quotes. This resulted in higher margins on various projects.

• Provided no loss time for several quarters dealing with Safety.

• Saved Zachry potential thousands each year dealing with claim review/analysis.
