Employed A3s and significantly reduced cost and timing for supplier prototype tooling, production tooling, and gages. Participated in technology exchanges with Mazda and their suppliers to Genchi Genbutsu supplier quality initiatives, production tooling development process and dimensional control strategies. Trained and mentored program teams to implement new lean process. Presented weekly to vice presidents and obtained approvals for new product development system. Developed standard work and documentation to replicate processes.
Conducted Value Stream Mapping on all aspects of the production tooling process for stamped chrome bumpers and removed 3 months of Muda (waste) from tool order to tool usage.
Managed pull-ahead production tooling for the 2009 Flex program trim parts. Superintended Muri and Mura – smooth workload across tool suppliers – and saved $7 million in prototype tooling costs.
