Experience:
With over 25 years of experience in commercial and residential construction, my emphasis is placed on the safe and on-time delivery of quality products to both internal and external customers. Responsibilities: complete fit out of office buildings, high rise condominiums, federal office renovation, and residential home construction. Zoning and building code compliance and enforcement; OSHA regulation enforcement; determining needs for major renovation and restoration projects; assessing and supervising emergency situations; supply equipment and inventory control; developing and implementing total quality management concepts; supervising contractors, sub-contractors, and clerical personnel. Conduct quality control inspections, and develop punch lists. Thorough knowledge of fire and water damage restoration for commercial and residential buildings. Operate jobsite equipment to include but not limited to
bobcats, (skid and track steer) backhoes, fork lifts, loaders, track hoes, man lifts, and small dump trucks (non-CDL).
Work History:
2009 to 2010 - Construction Labor Contractors (Knoxville, Tn.) Lead carpenter/foreman for installation of detention equipment for the New River Valley Jail in Dublin, Va. This was for Cornerstone Detention Products located in Tanner, Alabama.
2008 to 2009 – High Country Concrete, Inc. – (Roanoke, VA.) Superintendent for concrete construction company. Projects included work on Western Virginia Regional Jail and new project in Elkton, Virginia (River Bend Elementary School and East Rockingham High School). Duties included scheduling concrete pours, managing material and labor, electronically completed daily activity reports. Responsible for all areas of quality control. Managed work crews, organized monthly living arrangement for out of town accommodations. Acted as liaison between general contractor and head office, updated construction drawings, maintained company equipment and tools. Adhered to and met (or exceeded) strict scheduling deadlines established by the general contractor.
2006 to 2008 – Howard S. Shockey and Son, Inc. –( Winchester, VA) Safety Superintendent for the Western Virginia Regional Jail and Lead Superintendent for the Botetourt-Craig Public Safety Facility and County Jail. Responsible for the coordination of sub-contractors, electronic communication of project updates/changes, and stringent adherence to and enforcement of all safety policies and procedures. Effectively managed all after-hour emergencies. Insured total customer satisfaction during each step of the construction process.

2005 to 2006 – Dunlap Construction – (Roanoke, VA) Project Manager/Superintendent for upscale custom home builder. Responsible for daily coordination of subcontractors and the logical progression of new home
construction. Communicated all necessary changes among home owners, architects, and subcontractors to assure a quality product delivered on time.
2004 to 2005 - The Log Home Center – (Roanoke, VA) Project Manager/Superintendent /Lead Carpenter for local log home builder. Managed daily operations of jobs in progress. Coordinated manpower and material needs.
2001 to 2004 - Clark Construction Group – (Bethesda, MD). Construction Superintendent. Lincoln Square, Virginia Square, Tysons II – Bldg.”C” Virginia Square Auxiliary Building. Hyatt Chesapeake Hotel, Cambridge, MD. Notable project completed was Virginia Square Auxiliary Building, Arlington, VA. Finish exterior skin of Auxiliary Building, which includes steel beam installation, CMU walls, concrete walls, planters and walkways, windows, steel roof framing and raised seam panels. Coordinated all subcontractors and interacted with the owner and architect of record. Completed punch list for job close out.
2000 to 2001 and 1995-1999 - Perini Building Company, (Framingham, MA) Carpenters and Joiners of America, Ronald Reagan Building, Washington, DC, Quality Assurance Inspector / Superintendent. Supervised contractors, interfaced with project architects and GSA personnel, reviewed project plans and documents, inspected and completed punch lists for finished work, and managed all aspects of quality control. Rehired as Project Engineer to manage operations for Construction Manager for the project. Responsible for overseeing daily operations of general contractor and their subcontractors. Performed quality control inspections; generated field reports with the architect and structural engineer of record. Reviewed RFI’s, submittals, and project drawings. Audited monthly pay requisitions submitted by general contractor and subcontractors. Verify fabricated materials stored off-site, scheduled professional testing agencies for on-site inspections.
1999 to 2000 - Hitt Contracting, Inc., (Fairfax, VA); America On Line Project. Finish Superintendent for various parking garage projects. Supervised contractors, coordinated with project architects, reviewed project contract documents, drawings, job files and drawing management. Created “as built” drawings, managed quality control, and created punch lists for completion.
1990 to 1995 - Pulte Home Corporation, (Fairfax, VA). Project Care Manager/Superintendent, Pulte Quality Leadership Member. Single-family, townhome, and multi-family home construction. Sub-divisions located through out Northern Virginia.
1986 to 1990 - Juniper Construction Co., (Alexandria, VA) Carpenter/lead carpenter for office renovations in the following Federal Office Buildings: Voice of America, Humphrey Building, Food and Drug Administration, NASA, Defense Nuclear, The Pentagon, Navy Annex; Navy Yard, State Department, Census Bureau, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Education, G.S.A.
