Windows

• Authored a suite of International Settings Powershell 2.0 cmdlet topics for Windows 8.

Windows Online Platform IX

• Proposed and presented a new content plan to revitalize existing and obsolete documentation for a key technology. Received buyoff from all strategic partners and managers to proceed with this effort. Redeveloped, restructured, and rewrote a documentation set that includes a deployment guide, an operations guide, and a technical reference guide for a core Windows Server technology.

• Authored a suite of administrator help topics for Windows Intune®, a cloud-based PC management system. Worked closely with product teams to improve user interface design.

Office SharePoint

• Authored a diverse set of articles for the IT Professional audience for SharePoint Foundation 2010 and SharePoint Server 2010. Topics included Service application and service management, Web applications management, Database management, and Manage RBS. Authored a technical whitepaper for upgrading with minimal downtime on SharePoint 2007 systems: Configure a server farm for minimal downtime during software updates (Office SharePoint Server 2007).

• Successfully navigated documents from inception to on-time completion for publication deadlines. Windows Mobile

• Created SharePoint/Infopath portal for submission and tracking of technical writing projects.

• Researched, developed and wrote documentation for a software developer audience. Completed documentation sets that demonstrated an understanding of programming principles and complex state-of-the-art architectures. Designed and authored the first software development kit to be published by this team.

Cross team

• Performed as a freelance technical consultant, writer, and editor for Microsoft Corp. Windows Server

• Technical writing lead for the Designing a Managed Environment book of the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Deployment Guide. Wrote three chapters in that book: “Deploying Software Update Services ,” “Migration of User State,” and “Deploying a Simple Managed Environment”. As lead, managed the writing project content and work of 4 other technical writers and a technical editor. Additional writing projects included the “Deploying Updates Using Windows Update and Automatic Updates” module of the Security Guidance Kit and the whitepaper “Using Administrative Template Files with Registry-Based Group Policy.”

• Designed and delivered strategic planning presentations for new documentation schemas to product teams and mid-level management. This included the redistribution of clustering technologies throughout a wide range of supported platforms. Recruited executive sponsors and obtained cross-team buyoff for this distributed model approach to a major documentation release.

• Provided strategic communications support for upper-level product managers to evangelize their products and prioritize their messaging in the publishing sphere.

• Created and presented new documentation models and projects to small and large business groups. Created visual presentations in support of oral presentations. Worked with directors across product teams to present and promote the creation and publication of step-by-step tutorial guides for Windows Server technologies (networking, security, change and configuration management, Active Directory, backup, file and print servers, etc.).

• Authored two chapters for the Windows Server 2000 Change and Configuration Management Deployment Guide: “Managing User Data and Settings” and “User State Migration.”

• As writing lead, I developed the conceptual and functional requirements for over 40 Windows 2000 Deployment Step-by-Step Guides. As project lead, managed the workflow, content, and delivery by 2 technical writers and 2 technical editors. • Authored technical whitepapers, technical overviews, case studies, and other articles as part of an online technical library for Windows 2000 Server. Subject areas included Windows 2000 clustering, Microsoft Web Telephony Engine, Telephony API (TAPI), Microsoft Remote Access Services, and Virtual Private Networking.
