Job Description:

Performs inspection and preventive maintenance (PPM) following approved procedures, and demand service repairs on all medical equipment in the hospital and in the most effective way in keeping with the departmental policies and procedures

Ensures that all medical equipment is properly maintained and documented, ensuring up to date compliance with hospital applicable standards (KFSHD like but not limited to JCI and NFPA requirements, IEC(International Electrical Code), AAMI(Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) and other relevant international standards

Perform incoming inspection, installation, and commissioning on all incoming medical equipment in the hospital: this includes establishing a PPM procedure and schedule in consultation with the section head

Work closely with the end-users to ascertain appropriate and relevant needs and proper selection of medical equipment

Respond to emergency calls after office hours through an established On-Call system

Records and completes the necessary documentation, manually and on equipment data base, of all maintenance activities including PPM, repairs, incoming inspection, and modification.

Conduct quality assurance rounds as assigned by section head in areas of responsibility to assess equipment safety and function

Takes action to minimize hazard risks associated with medical equipment use

Operates specialized test equipment in troubleshooting, calibrating and maintaining medical equipment

Coordinates oversee and work with vendors service representative on new equipment installation, equipment under warranty, demand and service contract

Orders PPM and repair parts as required, identifies the requirements to assure adequate parts inventory

Attend service training courses on medical equipment, as required and transfer the knowledge gained during training to other staff members through formal day to day activity

Provides consultation, as required on the safe and proper use of medical equipment to the hospital's medical nursing and technical staff
