OBJECTIVE:
To obtain an engineering position that applies my knowledge of BioResource and Agricultural Engineering, taking on challenging, creative and diversified projects
EDUCATION:
California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo March 2010
Bachelor of Science in BioResource and Agricultural Engineering
Concentration: Mechanical Systems
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
*MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
*AutoCad
*SolidWorks
ABILITY, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Mechanical Design
*Engineered mechanical solutions using computer assisted design(SolidWorks/AutoCad) software in the production of two working tractors and a dynamometer
*Interpreted blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer generated reports
*Hands on experience designing and fabricating parts using the application of engineering principals, techniques, procedures and existing manufacturing process
*Operated mill, lathe, drill press and other machines to modify parts tested or to fabricate experimental parts for testing
*Built tractors and dynamometer mechanical systems and components, which includes selecting or designing all drive components such as estimating load and load factor, and designing load bearing structure
*Created, coordinated and monitored all aspects of production, fabrication and product design of tractors
*Developed alternate designs and processing methods to access feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification
*Coordinated changes in design, method of manufacturing and assembly, drafting techniques, to correct design problems, operating deficiencies and manufacturing problems
Mechanical Drafting
*Prepared complex schematic drawings from rough sketches and oral instructions used in the design of two tractors
*Generated mechanical drawings using CAD for most projects designed
**Certified SolidWorks Associate
*Constructed drafts containing multi-view drawings of assemblies and products to help understand the construction, fabrication and assembly of tractor and parts during construction
*Finished drawings by checking dimensions of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another and relation of various parts to assembly or project
Research and Analysis
*Analyzed old designs of tractors to remodel and improve design
**Won 1st place awards in safety and ergonomics
*Designed a dynamometer and developed procedures for testing a 16HP Briggs and Stratton engine and a continuously variable transmission(CVT)
*Data collected from dynamometer came from test devices integrated into a computer for summarized data easily analyzed
*Analyzed engines and CVT using dynamometer to find efficiency for maintenance, best engine for tractor and fine tune the CVT
*Inspected and diagnosed equipment failures of tractor to make recommendation to maintenance crew and for alternate designs
*Researched consumer proposals to evaluate feasibility cost, maintenance requirement and operation of new belt system on shaker head
Technical Documentation and Speaking
*Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manual
*Project report writing capabilities have included marketing reports for two tractors and a professional report based on design, procedures and construction
*Demonstrated speaking effectively through representation of projects to customers and organizations
**Won awards for presentation at tractor competition
Leadership and Management
*Managed group to work on different aspects of tractor including design and construction
*Supervised individuals to access skills and assign more responsibility if deserved
*Mediated between different team members to come to a compromised solution
*Trained inexperience team members on CAD software, shop conduct and operation of equipment
