• Responsibilites include setting up and managing the Laser Application lab and Laser Systems

• Planning the industrial experiments with various lasers to suit the customer requirements

• Handling the feasibility investigation with IR, Green, UV and femtosecond lasers

• Setting up the fixed beam delivery and galvo scan head systems for developing customer prototype systems.

• Responsible for studying the effect of laser material interaction with respect to wavelength and pulse width (nanosecond to femtosecond)

• Analysing processing quality, time and customer machine requirement during the laser application

• Retrofitted On The Fly (OTF) marking technology for high speed conveyer applications.

• NANOGLOWA (Nano-Membranes against Global Warming) effort- an EU 6th Framework Project. Responsibilities included Design and Development of Comb sensors for monitoring the percentage of carbon dioxide filtered by the Nano-Membranes; Functional activation of Polymer surfaces to enhance the ionomer growth on Ionomer High Voltage Membranes (IHVM) using Frequency-converted diode-pumped solid-state lasers.

• Laser – Photovoltaic project - Responsibilities included Laser texturing on the surface of mono- and multi-crystalline silicon solar cells to enhance the light coupling efficiency using frequency converted diode-pumped solid state lasers and ultra-short pulse laser systems.

• Successful accomplishment of project on Correlation between water contact angle varied by laser treatment and cell growth on polyimide foils for application in Cochlear implants. Acheived the goal of examining the growth behavior of cells on Polyimide foil in dependence of the water contact angle using DPSS lasers.

• Involved in projects based on Laser Processing for the semiconductor industry and other medical applications like smart surfaces. Applications included material processing, medical application, and flexible circuits.

Research Assistant [ Dec 2003 - Dec 2004 ]

• Worked on laser applications using pulsed UV Diode-Pumped solid-State laser (Coherent Nd: YVO4 at 355 nm, 25 ns) creating slots on optical fibers which is integrated as an Anti-Pedestrian Sensor in cars.

• Successfully completed optical probe techniques such as FTIR to derive the factors governing laser applications.

• Obtained equipment proficiency in SEM, AFM, Surface profiler, X-ray diffraction, FTIR, EDX and Optical microscopy.

• Obtained process proficiency in Gas and Solid State Laser Systems, Ultra High Vacuum Systems, Sputtering Systems

• Successfully investigated the effect of UV laser radiation on the wettability characteristics on the polymers surfaces. The experiments are aimed at generating functional surfaces like hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces, which involved calculating the interfacial tensions, correlating the surface roughness with wetting characteristics and the stability of the modified surface.

• Hands on experience with optical systems in various lasers ranging from Excimer to femto second laser.

• Micro-structuring of various material like metals, polymers, ceramics silicon, glass using UV-DPSS lasers, Excimer lasers, CO2 lasers, YAG lasers. Proficient in handling Homogenizers, CNC coding.

• Hands on experience installing and working with 2D and 3D highly dynamic scanning systems; laser annealing and laser cutting.
