Production Group Leader 2004 -2005
• Managed 35 hourly production associates and two team leaders in direct
manufacturing group for automotive manufacturer.
• Provided training and cross-training, addressed safety and ergonomic concerns,
managed daily attendance, overtime, and administrative duties.
• Ensured that associates had the tools required to operate effectively
including equipment, training, support, and ergonomic solutions.
• Addressed assembly line setup to minimize excessive and unnecessary downtime.
• As a new group leader in a new department, led the “Best overall launch of a
new vehicle in Subaru’s history”. Despite a very aggressive ramp-up schedule
into full production, there were zero defects from the Chassis Group.
Production Associate 1994 – 2004
• Operated equipment and machinery for production, maintaining quality and
safety standards, striving to achieve high personal standards. Followed set
procedures to identify weaknesses in systems.
• Trained for three weeks in Japan on new multi-gate molding process for new
model launch. Then, taught all operators and maintenance the operations of new
equipment and process.
• Worked with, taught, and trained fellow associates, filling in as Team Leader.
• Took initiative to learn operation of 40% of equipment within first two years.
Production Team Leader 1989 – 1994
• Participated in the initial startup of new manufacturing facility leading and
training team of 17 new production associates in the paint shop, writing
operations instructions, establishing procedures, setting up, implementing and
adjusting production setup, as needed.
• Cross-trained all employees, maintaining training records, and implementing
rotation as skill levels allow for ergonomic concerns.
• Assisted with equipment and material trials, material storage and loading
procedures, and waste reduction efforts.
• Received training on Graco, Tokiko, and Kawasaki robotic operations.
• Managed two different teams simultaneously, dealing with overtime, mechanical
downtime, learning curve and line flow problems, and high defect issues.
• Worked production line at all stations as needed to cover absenteeism. Hand spray paint (base/clear coat), set up/adjust APS (automated paint system), prep for painting (sanding/cleaning, etc.)
