• To this point with Edward Jones my work has been focused on providing solutions to documented System/programming problems within Jones extensive Online systems and participating in the Edward Jones conversion effort From the existing IDMS database to DB2 (IDMS abandonment). • USDA work involved identifying areas of need and modifying the Cobol code of the Rural Development/Assistance , RD/RA of the appropriation system resulting with a consolidation of fund appropriation methods. This section of the USDA performs the same function in the rural areas of our country as HUD does in the metropolitan areas.

I have written two new COBOL programs and modified three NATURAL programs for the new/enhabced Pennsylvania Insurance IDcard system. I have also assisted with the System and User Acceptance Testing post the Unit testing process. System problems with the GMAC Electronic Fund Transfer System (EFT) were resolved and tested to turn over to Production.

• This assignment involved supplementing permanent staff with systems analysis, requirement definition, system and program design, coding, testing, quality assurance and implementation. Analysis during this effort was done by reading JCL, Cobol programs, running utilities to determine specific file content as well as interaction between other consultants and staff.

• This also included by rewriting older, poorly written Cobol code with emphasis placed on structured methodology. Code no longer executed as well as unnecessary, time consuming IO’s were eliminated.

• Mainframe software included COBOL/COBOL II, Easytrieve, IBM utilities, Endevor, Fileaid and IDCAMS. The files were VSAM and sequential as well as DB2 tables.

• Analyzed, designed, developed/coded, tested and worked with remote facility Operations Production Control to initiate/establish current/updated production files at remote Mastercard facility. This project is the Mastercard Consolidated Billing System disaster recovery/contingency effort.

• This involved developing JCL and procedures to transfer, connect:direct and established VSAM and GDG files at remote New York facility.

• The Mastercard methodology to achieve this involved NDM and XCOM file transfer protocol.

• The current GDG, sequential backup files were read to disk from their stacked tape format via IEBGENER, then taken in by NDM connect:direct procedure to initiate the transfer. The eight new jobs/procedures, sixty new GDG, sequential and thirty new VSAM files were documented and turned over to production using Mastercard documentation guidelines.

• General system maintenance, enhancements and upgrades as well as production support were accomplished after Billing System disaster/recovery effort completed. A portion of this involved writing two new Cobol II programs, creating two new DB2 tables and two GDG files.

• Data structure was VSAM, and GDG files as well as DB2 and embedded SQL used for table creation, modification and updates.

• This effort involved extensive examination of COBOL II, Oracle/SQL and DB2/SQL code and writing test scripts/test completeness matrix to aid the Independent Verification process of Y2K compliance and correctness.

• The United States Post Office is a PC based mainframe environment.

• Microsoft Windows NT along with Microsoft Word facilitated test scripting and documentation, Lotus CC:Mail for E-mail communication.
