My Duties and Responsibilities:
• Certified in accordance with American Welding Society (AWS), Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), qualified and certified in accordance with provisions of AWS QC1, Standard for AWS Certified Welding Inspector;
• Experienced processes (i.e., MIG, TIG, ARC, etc.) with AWS D1.1 certified.
• Have institutional knowledge of electromechanical, mechanical, and pneumatic skills.
• Supervises welding on most metals, read blueprints and associated installation instructions, inspect assembly and subassemblies
Within specified tolerances.
• Proficient in inspecting flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) processes.
• Provides design details and recommend modifications to engineering designs as needed.
• Writes and prepares specific weld repair processes and prepare reports based on criteria.
• Inspects welds in accordance with AWS D.1.1 specific codes.
Work includes oversight and monitoring of Contractor Welding Program. Ability to climbing ladders, scaffold, and work on elevated platforms, swing stages etc… permanent ladders, work on uneven surfaces and work in confined spaces. Provide oversight of welding and reporting results to the Site Leads and Project Manager, Project Inspector, Design Engineer and assists the Contract Administrator and Material Coordinators as required. As a Project Welding Inspector I provide assistance to the project in meeting cost and time schedules, verifies materials, equipment, and workmanship and assures results meet design requirements, responsible for reviewing, monitoring and reporting on the Contractor Welding Program. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
• Verifying Contractor is using subcontractor’s personnel qualified to the process being used.
• Performing Visual Inspections of welds.
• Observing NDE applications for UT, MT, and PT against approved NDE procedures.
• Review project designed stamped drawings, welding procedures.
• Understand, monitor and report, as required, UT techniques all NDT.
• Provide Welding assistance to Project Management Team, as necessary.
• Verification of materials, workmanship and specification/code requirements.
• Verify and monitor calibration of NDE equipment.
• Verify Torqueing procedures and values are being followed as per contract docs and plans.
• Ensure required reports are completed in a quality manner and on Time.
• Ensuring that Nonconformance Reports on nonconforming items (work, reports, activities) are
Raised in a timely manner and closed out as well.
• Assist in the resolution of Corrective Action Reports (CARs) issued by Project Engineer.
Experience:
15+ years welding and construction inspection experience, 10+ years as a AWS Certified Welder and ICC CBC Building Inspector, California Building Inspector, ICC Structural Steel Bolting Inspector, ICC Structural Steel Welding Inspector, ICC Structural Masonry Inspector.
